Monday (4 May 26)

Well, it’s been a while. Not quite sure what M Kaz has been up to that she hasn’t had time to help me with my blog but hopefully she will be more available and diligent from here on in. (It’s hard but I’m trying not to make reference to flying pigs!)

M Sooz and M Kaz leave the house every weekday now to go off to some medical appointment or other – they sometimes have two on the one day. How lucky are they? Well, there is good and bad to it – good that M Sooz is receiving treatment for the nasty and that treatment is available, and bad because we know what ‘stay at home’ people those Mummies can be.

And speaking of home – last week marked the seventh anniversary of me coming to live with the Mummies at Jannie! It doesn’t seem like that long since they put me in the laundry basket on the back seat of the car and drove for two hours from Toowoomba to Jannie, all the while trying to think of my new name. Who knew – new house, new name. I wonder what those Mummies were called before they came to live at Jannie. I used to be called DeNile – like that river in Egypt. It will come as no surprise that my litter-mate was called Cleopatra. Do I miss being called DeNile? Sometimes, but I also miss being called ‘Nigella’ sometimes. They take such liberties with my name- Nigellikins, Nigey, Short & Furry, ‘No Nigey No’ and some other choice phrases which I try not to remember, not because they hurt my feelings – I’m tougher than that – but because there are sometimes rude words and reference to certain of my physical attributes involved. I can only imagine what they’re like when they’re in the car and they’re not getting their own way.
Aunty Wendy came to stay overnight on the weekend and Aunty T and her children came to visit too. I stayed outside on my cat tower most of the time the others were here.

Now that they have gone back to Toowoomba, it means I can have my bedroom back. Since when is it okay to turf me out of my room? And not even let me in there with whoever? I know I can’t share with Uncle Wayne because of his ‘allergies’, but Aunty Wendy has no excuse- no … no … snoring is not a good enough reason to keep the door to my bedroom closed!

It has been raining at Jannie a fair bit lately and M Kaz has been very pleased about that and that the pit Jarrod installed to keep the swimming pool from filling up on the front path is working! And she and M Sooz are still happy with the ‘future proof’ taps in the main bathroom too. M Kaz says it has taken a load of worry off her mind because she no longer has to check if the taps are turned off properly and not leaking. I can’t tell you how relieved I am about that too – no-one needs a fussing (and cussing) M Kaz.
