Monday (5 Oct 26)

OK, someone has to tell M Kaz that she’s now officially watched more than enough ‘Midsomer Murders’. Why, you may ask. I was with her last night and she saw the first frame of the episode and said ‘Oh, it’s the photography one’.  The first frame!! Time to move on, M Kaz. It truly is.  I know she knows that and maybe if someone would remind her of something she likes and would enjoy watching again – and I’m not talking about re-watching the ends of ‘Heart and Souls’ , ‘Sleepless in Seattle’, ‘You’ve Got Mail’, or ‘Nanny McPhee’ she could move on. Come to think of it, maybe she could take up reading instead?

Well, she didn’t. She watched all of ‘Dante’s Peak’ and all of ‘You’ve Got Mail’ and then, can you believe, she went back to ‘Midsomer Murders’! As long as she’s happy I guess … but it would be nice if she considered how the rest of us might feel about it.

RAWR! No, not ROAR (which could have been my response to more Midsomer) but RAWR which is the new cat food M Kaz has given me tonight. It’s straight out of the fridge and cold … so I haven’t touched it yet.  M Kaz is already imploring, begging and pleading me not to turn my back on it ‘completely’ just yet. Hmmm, You would have thought she would know me better by now.

Today … well, tomorrow.  It was raining when the Mummies dragged themselves out of bed so they could get ready for M Sooz’s PET scan. For some reason which I can’t fathom because I am THE pet, they didn’t need me to go with them.  I let them go out in the rain while I went back to bed – where I still was when they arrived back this afternoon. Yes, this afternoon – and since they left before 7am, that made it a big day for M Sooz – who did take herself straight back to bed when they got home. And what was that you were doing M Kaz? Was it ‘Midsomer Murders’?  Roar!!!!!

Sunday (4 Oct 26)

M Kaz has finally taken the hint and acquired a new stringey thing for me. I’m not sure where the other ones are but I suspect they were in the boxes that M Kaz stole from my area when she was decluttering. I’ve been trying to get her to retrieve them so we can play, but she’s been remarkably dense about it. Tonight she saw the light – finally. She had to hunt around for some string (for a new stringey thing) and a rubber band for the end of it. It’s not bad and after we’d had a bit of a go on it, I grabbed it and ran with it – not to my bowl – but Outback this time. M Kaz was a bit surprised and chased me Outback to retrieve it. “It’s mine, not Nigey’s” she kept saying. Hmmm. Let’s talk about “Indian givers” shall we, M Kaz?

I’m not sure those Mummies are going to be glued to the television tonight for the NRL Grand Final. They don’t really follow any NRL team and it’s surprising they know it’s the Knights and the Roosters taking the field. I’m planning to sleep through it because I don’t need to hear questions like “How long are the halves?” (40 minutes, M Kaz, 40 minutes!) “What’s a conversion?” “What’s a conversion worth?” Groan, M Kaz, just groan.

Saturday (3 Oct 26)

The Mummies went to visit Aunty M and Mouse last night to start watching a TV series they’d heard about (’Ann Droid’). While they were there they saw Mimi (previously arch-nemesis now pal) and they had dinner including some wonderful salads – one of them beetroot which M Kaz managed to enjoy without sharing with her shirt. She’s done that before – more than once.

M Kaz has just been out cleaning droppings off the front lawn. They keep appearing. I’m not sure why I haven’t seen who has been dropping them off since I have been looking out there in case ay of my pals wander past. The closed gate might have something to do with it.  She is considering what can be done to stop it.  She has consulted the interweb and it says orange peels, coffee grounds or pet repellant spray. She isn’t sure which way she’s going to go. I just know that she has to do something because we’re all sick of hearing her complaining about picking up someone else’s pet’s poop. As she says, she doesn’t even like doing mine. I don’t know why she doesn’t just leave a note for them imploring them not to do it. I wonder where the poop would end up then.

I have a new box!  I have a new box!  M Kaz brought it home for me – it had something for her in there … but I get to keep the box (until next she decides that I have too many boxes and she secrets it out of the house)!

Friday (2 Oct 26)

I don’t know if M Kaz had trouble sleeping or what but she was up and out of bed way earlier than she usually is – and then she was gone. She came back a couple of hours later and then went straight into the officer to play with photographs of the sunrise. The good news is that I got to be in her spot earlier than usual – mind you, I did spend the night in the bed with the Mummies – despite M Kaz not really moving over for me. That’s the least she could do. But no — anyway, I’m not going to start the day complaining. I could … but I’m not going to.

M Sooz is still not well even though she had her last treatment a few weeks ago. Her legs are hurting and she says it’s like she’s ‘just had chemo’. I don’t think M Kaz really understands what she’s going through but we know that people don’t always until they’ve been through the same thing.

I keep watching outside for any of my buddies but nobody’s been around for a while. I’m not sure why that is because the Cecils are definitely supposed to be out, enjoying the sunshine – and there has been a bit of that lately. When Aunty Wendy, Uncle Wayne and M Kaz’s mother (their mother too) came down on Sunday, they all sat out in the sun to warm up. They’ve left the wooden chair out on the lawn so M Kaz can enjoy the sun there too. I just wish she would take me out there. I’d be good and sit quietly with her. Why doesn’t she believe me when I tell her that. I’ll go and look for my harness/leash, will I?

M Kaz is still watching ‘Midsomer Murders’ although, thankfully, she is not watching every episode all the way through. Sometimes it’s a bit annoying that she does that because even though she can remember all those storylines, I can’t. She’ll watch the first bit and then skip through to the last 20 minutes or so.
