M Kaz isn’t any fun when she’s not well.  When they came back from Toowoomba on Sunday afternoon, she went straight to bed and hadn’t really been up since – except for this morning when she had to get up to take Ravi to the wheels man.  I’ve been doing my best to look after her – not that I can do that much except to stick close by, sleep in the middle of her bed with her – that sort of thing.  She seems to appreciate it, which is nice of her.  M Sooz has been keeping her company and tending to her too.

I missed them over the weekend especially since they were seeing Wayne in Toowoomba along with the rest of the family.  I hope they’re planning to stay home a bit now – Sydney one weekend, Toowoomba the next. They need to stay home with me on the weekends!  Still, it wasn’t all bad because Aunty M came to spend time with me!

I’m going to have to have words with M Kaz about the cat grass.  She has really let the team down on that one.  The pot out the back is far from happy and I think the one (note that:  one Not two) is in need of some help as well.  I always knew she wasn’t much of a ‘green thumb’ but she was doing okay with it for a little while there.

It has been raining at Jannie again and there have been a few dinosaurs around but I haven’t seen Kermie or Lennie for absolute ages. Maybe I’m asleep when they come by – I hope so, because I’d hate to think that anything had happened to them.
M Kaz came home all excited from the post office yesterday (hmmm she must have snuck out of bed and out of the house while I wasn’t watching) because she had her delivery from the online shop – and she had a yellow long-sleeved shirt.  It will be interesting to see how long it is before she starts wearing it – or whether she’s going to save it for when they go on holidays in October.  I don’t mind that they’re going to leave me here then because Uncle Wayne is going to come to stay with me!

Tuesday (19 March 2024)

Finally they came to pick me up from boarding school. The only positive thing was, as boarding schools go, it was pretty good. I liked Michelle who looked after me too and that just wasn’t because she smelled like tuna – although she did on the day the Mummies came to take me home. It was good to be home too – it didn’t look as though very much had happened while I was away. My stuff was all where I’d left it- which is always a relief. I don’t want to have to go looking for things because heavens only knows where M Kaz would have put anything. Bad enough I have to watch her going around and searching when she’s put something in a “safe place” (never to be found again, it seems) without me having to as well – because we all know I can’t actually open doors or drawers to look inside them – which is what M Kaz seems to do a lot of when she’s looking for something. The latest thing was a sim card but that story will have to wait until another time – which is what she’ll have to do because she hasn’t found it yet.

I don’t think I’ve been talking overly much since I came home and certainly not as much as Mimi did. I know I did chat a bit in the car as we drove home from the boarding school but that’s just so I could tell them everything that’s happened to me since I’d seen them last.

Me … asleep in their suitcase!

Wednesday (13 March 2024)

The Mummies were looking for me the other day but they could not see me even though I was less than a metre away from them. I was sitting on my cat tower, near the window, where M Kaz had placed it so I would be able to look out of the window.  I was just sitting there, listening to them wonder where I was – was I under the bed, was I on the ironing board, was I in the bed that Uncle Wayne and I share … or the one they didn’t even mention – sitting there right in front of them?

It is a little bit colder at Jannie at the moment so I am spending my days luxuriating in the sun Outback during the day or sleeping on the couch or in with the Mummies at night.

The Mummies have just started Season 5 of Midsomer Murders.  It’s interesting listening to them as they talk about whether they remember what’s in each episode.  It would be interesting to know why they seem to remember some better than others – because they really do.

This will be my last entry for this week because the Mummies (as I realised this morning) are putting me in to Boarding School.  The carrier cage is in the living room and I suspect that at any moment M Kaz will come to scoop me up and take …

Saturday (9 March 2024)

“I think we’ve trained her” – that’s what M Kaz told M Sooz – and I will let them believe it for a little while – until they put that spray bottle away and don’t approach it when I approach the television. Can you imagine that? That they would have the nerve to think they could train me! It’s nice for them to have a dream, I suppose.

I think M Kaz has finally remembered that she hasn’t finished putting the rest of the shelves together yet. I saw her looking at them today when she was opening the blind and the sliding windows so I could look out while they were off having breakfast with their mates this morning.

M Kaz had a big talk with Uncle Wayne on the phone this afternoon. He’s still off building fences but not as many or as much as he’d like because they don’t do it from Friday lunchtime to Monday morning. He is enjoying it though and was saying that now that he’s moving around and doing things again, he’s dropped a couple of kilos – he seemed happy about that.

The Mummies were watching Midsomer Murders again this evening – two episodes. I don’t think it’s going to end any time soon – especially if they get to the end of season 24 and start all over again. They’re up to season 3 on the second time around now. The only time they’re not watching Midsomer Murders is when Aunty M is over – they’ve started watching a series called Obituary with her. We’ve seen one episode so far.
