Happy Birthday M Sooz! At least M Kaz let you sleep in before she took you out to brekkie with friends – and brought you home so you could look at all your FB messages before you went out to lunch.
Well, Uncle Wayne has finished his jobs at Jannie and has gone back to Toowoomba – where I think he’ll last just a couple of days in their cold before he packs up his caravan and heads north to the warmth. He was telling M Sooz the other day that 27 degrees is his “happy place”. I can understand that because he and M Kaz are sun-seekers like me. M Sooz is not.
There’s a new box in town! I heard them talking about it while I was Outback this morning and I came racing in – and just as well M Kaz had already taken the new vests out because that meant there was room for me in there. It’s very comfortable and a bit bigger than anything else I have at the moment, and it’s enclosed, a bit, so we can put it down with the gingerbread house and my patio and we can have an extension or maybe it could be the granny-flat. I think it going there though means that the car and the soft basket will be relocated so there’s room for them to walk in there. It doesn’t bother me but it does seem to bother them a little when they can’t manouevre in the living area safely. Must be because they only have two legs.
I love it when M Kaz cleans out my litter tray. I had a fresh one last week when they went up to Toowoomba – and the other one had been cleaned out too so there were choices and I’d have the illusion of clean litter if Aunty M hadn’t been able to get to me – but she did. I am down to one litter tray today – all fresh – and I wasted no time jumping in it as soon as M Kaz spread the litter evenly in there.
I’m very excited because Uncle Wayne is coming today! Yes, M Kaz has lined up a couple of jobs for him to do, but not many, and he can spend time relaxing with me while he’s here. I think M Kaz has found some movies for them all to watch as well. And, of course, she’s been Outback just doing a bit of a tidy-up after she moved things around last week in case Brendan (our new plumber) needed to get to the drain access points. The washing tub is fantastic for a Nigey to catch some rays.
It was good to have the Mummies back. I think I missed them and I have tried to keep them entertained since they arrived home – running and jumping all over the place, jumping up with the television (I know M Kaz can’t really spray me with water while I’m with the electricals – but I don’t know that she knows that I know – so let’s not tell her), getting up on top of the shower screen and then sitting on the ledge over the bathtub. I waited there while M Kaz went off to get her phone to take a photo.
The only strange thing is that when they go off overnight to wherever it is they go to, they come back smelling of dogs. I could smell three on them today and they weren’t at all apologetic to have carried so many pooch perfumes back with them.
The good thing about them going off and leaving me home alone is that Aunty M, and sometimes her Mum too, comes to visit me – and she did again this time … twice! Thank you Aunty M. I don’t know if she worked out on either visit what I’d done in the Mummies bedroom. No, it wasn’t anything like that! I’d made M Kaz’s bed-goes-up-bed-goes-down go into the totally ‘up’ position.
Did I mention that one of the things I love about Aunty M is that she only brings one dog smell in with her – or maybe two, but that’s the most!
Well, wasn’t M Kaz excited today when Brendan visited. I liked him too and I think he liked me – he was certainly mindful of me as he went in and out the doors – having quickly sussed that I am a … what words did he use … yes, ‘escape artist.’ Brendan is the plumber who came to look at the toilet which was ‘backing up’ and scaring the Mummies. Thank goodness they have two so M Kaz was able to put a ‘DO NOT USE’ sign on the door of the scary one while they were waiting for Brendan to come and look at it. But he didn’t just look at it (with Rhys using the camera they put through the pipes) – he fixed it! It’s strange not to hear it gurgle after it’s been flushed. While Brendan was here, M Kaz also had him look at some almost-dripping taps – the ones you have to turn off really hard so they don’t – and they’re working a charm too. Let’s hope M Kaz is excited when she gets Brendan’s bill. But given he’s saved them a bucketload of money – because this means the waste pipes to the mains don’t have to be mucked around with (cha-ching cha-ching), I think she’ll cope.
Brendan seemed just the tiniest bit startled when he almost stepped on a snake out the front. I had wondered if there was one hanging around. When M Kaz went to tell the neighbours just so they are expecting to see one and don’t get too big of a surprise if they do, it seems that they’ve been aware of it for the last couple of weeks. It’s living in the jasmine jungle on top of the courtyard dividing wall.
It’s still chilly at Jannie and I can now say, without a doubt, that M Sooz’s legs and bedding are way warmer than M Kaz’s. I’m not sure if either of them are happy with me having taken up residence on M Sooz’s bed – but good luck trying to move me.
Aunty M came to visit this morning so I ran out to welcome her. I haven’t seen her or a few days as she hasn’t been totally well. I’ve missed her, of course, but I’ve also missed them watching Madame Blanc – because when Aunty M isn’t here, you know those Mothers watch Midsomer Murders. Please tell me I didn’t hear it right when they were talking about only having ten or so episodes left before the end of the last season (hurrah!) – and M Sooz said something like – WE CAN JUST GO BACK TO THE BEGINNING AND START AGAIN. My emphasis but what the … ? To her credit, M Kaz is suggesting other series they could watch – and there’s always travel videos on YouTube – or something called Travel Guides where groups of people play/explore/compete in different cities around the world. I’m sure they would have filmed some episodes in Europe in the places where the Mummmies are planning to go.
