Cold … snap

Brrrrrr. Just as well I have a fur coat otherwise I’d be just about freezing to death around her these days. Have these people never heard of heaters? Apparently not! They’re electrical appliances which, when plugged in and turned on, have the ability to heat – hence the name – a space so the cat (that would be me) doesn’t end up freezing their paws off. It can be quite – unpleasant … and worse if you’re trying to be fair (that would also be me) and trying to position yourself half-way between the Mummies – which in this instance is on the couch … yes, there is a blanket there but it’s still cool … no, cold.
It’s okay for them, they can put (more) clothes on – or put the electric blanket on during the day (yes, I’m looking at you Sooz) – and then stay in there. It’s not like there are Nigey-sized Ugg boots in the cupboard (with Kaz’s) either … or hot cups of tea and coffee to wrap Nigey paws around.

Me … running in place while I’m lying down
… trying to keep from freezing. It is C-O-L-D!

But there are Kaz’s arms to wrap myself in to – and sometimes she’s quite warm, so that helps. But it doesn’t help when she’s watching disaster movies … Armageddon the other night, Timescapes tonight … although it could definitely be worse … she could be watching The Day After Tomorrow or something else that involves watching The Ice Age roll in. Maybe Volcano or Dante’s Peak would be a better choice Kaz … because, you know, sometimes it’s not all about you.

Yes … you just watch me make it rain!
Why are you making me sit on the pencil case Kaz
… you know I’d be warmer sitting on the computer!

Ah … the great outdoors …

What a beautiful day on the Gold Coast!  Even more so because Mummy Kaz has let me out to do an explore of the garden. And … it’s about bloody time! I see Kaz and Sooz going out all the time but do they think to take me out and give me some sunshine and some fresh air?  No … they do not! Not until I manage to guilt Kaz into it … and let me tell you, that’s not an easy thing to do.

Me … finally in the yard again …

It was good out there though … until I realised that Kaz was stalking me around the yard, trying to get the perfect photo. I say that as though it’s a bad thing … and believe me it is … because she’s trying to get a shot of me in that 4H which she can caption with something like “Does Nigey’s bottom look big in this … why, yes, yes it does!” She is so rude … and this is a big call but I think she borders on being more rude than I am sometimes.

But I guess I’m lucky that she’s spending any time with me at all. She’s been locking herself in her office again and those words keep floating out … study, typing for Peter. I offer to go in there to help her but she keeps ushering me out … and then locking me out – saying she doesn’t need me to be kissing and cuddling her legs while she’s trying to concentrate. I know that would help her do things better but she’s not prepared to even give it a go.
So, Mummy Sooz and I have to entertain ourselves for hours while she’s in there. And you know, sometimes we all just have to take long naps so the time passes as quickly as it can until we hear that magic click which means the door is opening and she’s coming out to be with us all.

The cat in the hat …

They went out again this morning but not quite so early. As they were leaving Kaz said “we’re off to have Brekkie with Aunty M” … so I guess that’s why they were leaving at 8 and not 6:30am. No doubt they were going to talk about my Archnemesis’ exploits – how she runs to the end of the pier when Aunty M tells her to, how she can leave just a couple of cookies at breakfast and then go back for them later, how she sleeps in Mouse’s sink, how she hangs from her paws from the pool fence as she chases after birds … the list goes on … and on … and on. I know this because Kaz and Sooz keep talking about it – sometimes like I’m not ever here … c’mon you two … be a bit considerate … she is my AN afterall!
It only took a couple of tries at pestering Kaz when they arrived back for her to get 4H out so I could take a wander in the yard. I wonder if it will ever get any easier to decide to put it on … especially as we still appear to be living with the “no harness, no outside” rule. Yes Kaz, no need to tell me every time I even start to look at the door (let alone standing up against it on my back legs) … I get it already! I really do.
I’m not sure what she was looking for but Kaz spent a lot of time emptying boxes out of the cupboard in my room and distributing them, a little messily I thought, around the place. I don’t care for me but it is Sooz’s Studio … and no Kaz it doesn’t matter if she hasn’t started using it, you have to make sure you keep the surfaces clear for her for when she does.
The only exception would be if the cap was in there … that can go absolutely anywhere because I love it … and that I can be a character from literature when I’m with it … The Cat in the Hat … that’s me … that’s me.
