Cuddles and kisses

Well, it’s official … I am a Brute!  You wouldn’t think that to look at me but Kaz keeps telling me I am just because I give her enthusiastic “leg cuddles and kisses”.  It’s not my fault that my claws are sharp and they sometimes go in to her skin.  It sometimes takes all my strength just to hold on when she’s trying to shake me off.  Doesn’t she know that it hurts my feelings?  I’m just trying to show her how much I love her … and Sooz.  Yes, I know I don’t give Sooz “Leg Cuddles and Kisses” but she doesn’t seem to need them as much as Kaz does!

Me … being my cute self.

Have I said how much I love the new stringy things?  They are amazing, especially since they have elasticised strings rather than just strings.  I have a favourite, of course, and I can’t believe Sooz had to tell Kaz what it is … not which one it is, but that it is a bird.  A bird, she said, since when do you get blue birds with big dots on them?  But she had a closer look at its shape, and its tail, and its beak … and finally agreed that yes, it was definitely a bird.
Even better than having the new stringy things is that Sooz and Kaz both play with me with them. The other ones are a fish (actually a ginormous shark!) and a disco ball.  It doesn’t get much better than this.

You have to turn your head to the side … but that’s me in the box I had for a minute before they took it away so I didn’t eat it!

They say that if you ever made an alarm clock that used the sound of a cat throwing up as the alarm, you would have a winner on your hands.  That’s so much better than nearly having what was your dinner on your paws … which is what you get when you have a cat actually throwing up.  I don’t like it … I do not like it at all.  I don’t know why Kaz and Sooz let me do it … especially since they don’t like it either.  I’ve never heard anyone grumble as much about cleaning anything up … and was that Kaz doing chucking sounds when she was cleaning up the little pile of Nigey-sick?  I’m sure it was.

I have rediscovered my cat tree and am taking turns sleeping in the turret up the top or in the basket.  I don’t know how it got smaller but it’s a bit of a squeeze fitting in there now.  I’m just glad it’s tucked in now so when I’m in it I’m over the platforms rather than hanging out in space!  That would be too scary even for me … the cat who was on top of the shower screen this morning.  It’s fun playing tricks on Kaz … she’s been a bit down this week – something about dentists and an operation on her eye – so while she was in the shower this morning I jumped up on the top of the screen and, once she was out, I meowed.  She looked around the bathroom but couldn’t see me.  Heh heh.  I’m not sure why but she finally looked up … and there I was.  Ta da.  She laughed and called Sooz in to have a look.  That was good (that she called Sooz) because Kaz didn’t even give a thought to how I was going to get down … Sooz did though, and cleared off the ledge at the end of the bath to make a space for me to jump down.  She’s a good cat mother!  Which reminds me … Mother’s (Mothers? Mothers’?) Day is coming up and I will have to find something special to do for them. I can feel some more Leg Cuddles and Kisses coming on!

Dentist Breath

What the hell is this “Dentist Breath” that Kaz hit me with the other day. Not nice. Not nice at all. I much prefer Sooz’s toothpaste breath. That at least is fun and lovely. And not designed to send me running from the room. On a scale of one to ten, I much prefer Kaz rattling the cookies to get me out of the bedroom rather than doing that Dentist Breath thing. I’m not sure where she learned it but she can take it right back there.
Kaz must have realized she needed to make it up to me because today she came back from being out with 3 boxes of food for me, a pack of crunchies (aka cookies) and new stringy things… three of them, each with a different thing at the end of the string… and a new mouse. How lucky am I? Even luckier than I thought because both Sooz and Kaz took time out from their busy (that’s a joke!) lockdown schedules today to play with them with me!
An came to play with me today too… I told you I was lucky!  She was doing something odd… cleaning windows I think they called it. She was amazing – I have never seen her do this before either

I’m tired and I want to go to bed …

Can you believe they have had me trapped in this house for the last year?  That’s 365 days … and nights!  Do they not realise I am a free spirit and need to roam the great outdoors.  How can I bring them treats if I can’t get outside to get them any?

I did catch a fly last night … I chased it around and around the bedroom, over the bed, over their legs, down the hall, back into the bedroom.  It was fast … but I was faster!  It’s a pity it was so small so there wasn’t that much to share with them … heh heh … that sounds like I ate it … which I didn’t (how gross would that be?) but I know it’s in the bedroom somewhere … I just haven’t been able to find it since it went quiet.  It’s very good at hiding!

It has been a busy week here.  Kaz has been busy with her camera again – and not just her camera, she’s been taking photos of me with that, and her tablet, and her phone.  There is no end to it.  And she’s not just loaning me the photos for my blog … she’s also posting them on her FaceBook page and letting everyone see me doing … stuff … being in her basket, or sleeping in my bed, or just rolling around the floor, or sleeping in on the floor … and stretching out along the door.   She’s back to that thing of not giving me a moment’s peace!

I’ve been trying to get to sleep in the bedroom the last few nights.  While Kaz and Sooz are watching MasterChef (why do they like that program so much … who wants to watch other people cook and eat?) I take myself into the bedroom and get into my bed … and wait for them.  Sometimes I just go to sleep … they take so long to come in.  Then, even if I’m not asleep I pretend I am because I know Kaz is a real softie and she’ll do anything rather than put me out.  Full marks to her though, she hasn’t once played the cookie trick to get me out … but she was making heaps of noise the night before last and of course I went out to investigate … and by the time I made it back to the bedroom, the door was closed.  Then last night she had the package tape and was “teasing” me with it – and we ended up doing tug-of-war – I won! I won!  And I was so excited about that, that I forget myself for a moment, and then she stopped tugging, I let go, and she threw the tape out into the hallway.  Of course, I went after it … and then the door closed with me on the other side. D’oh!

Mmmm … coffee

Lion King … or not 🙂

If only I could have carried Graham to the top of the cupboard above the Microwave … I would have held him up skyward (being careful not to hit his head on the ceiling) and started singing “The Circle of Life” song from “The Lion King”. I know it was what Kaz wanted … rather than me just being up there trying to catch a bug that had come in with her when she took out the rubbish and recycling. There was just the one bug … i’m not sure why because they knows I’m always after more friends … it was Sooz and Kaz who gave me my name afterall – that’s right, you remember … Nigella NO Friends!

There was sad news last week (no, Aunty M hasn’t gone and got herself another cat …. grrrr) – it was that my sister Chloe had used up all her lives and moved on to wherever it is that we go once we’ve done that. I hope I don’t find out for a long, long time. I wouldn’t want Sooz and Kaz to be as sad as Wendy (my first almost for-ever Mum) is now that Chloe is gone. Mind you, it doesn’t sound as though she was nearly appreciative enough of the gifts that Chloe was taking her … and yes, if someone doesn’t take the present first off, you can understand why Chloe would eat it … and leave just a little something (so as not to appear too greedy) … you know, like a liver, or a heart. There’s nothing here like that that I can catch … but I do what I can … leaving Pinkie and Graham around where they can find them … alas it’s just not the same without the blood!

About the house …

Speaking of blood, I managed to spag Kaz a couple of times this week. She’s such a wimp. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt as much as she makes out it does … she even cries some time. The big baby! It was her own fault with one of them. She was playing stringey thing with me and didn’t move her hand out of the way soon enough … that was one of them … and the other was when we were playing Where’s Nigey and Kaz forgot to keep an eye exactly on where I was … and just how sharp my teeth and claws are. Razor sharp I tell you … that’s what they are. Hmmm … I’d better be careful about them though … I have a feeling Kaz is, even now, thinking about having my claws cut. They would have been cut by now except Kaz doesn’t know how … and she’s such a woozie … I think she thinks I would not go under the clippers quietly! She’s absolutely right of course.

I’m addicted to coffee … well, not coffee really … but the smell of coffee. It’s wonderful and amazing and the reason why cats were placed on earth. I now have .. count them … one, two, three cup trays and they all smell of coffee. I’m sure Kaz and Sooz think I’ve been biting and tearing them up just because I love paper products (well, there is that too) but it’s really the smell. Did you know … I know because Kaz keeps telling me … I could be a sniffer dog at airports searching out drugs and other contraband … if only I would wear my harness. Not going to happen. Yes, yes, it’s because we cats have a much more acute sense of smell than our canine counterparts. (Heh heh … don’t tell Kaz but I have hidden the harness.)

Mmmm … coffee …
