The battle begins ….

Get this thing off me … get this thing off me right now!  Yes, that’s right … there’s a new harness in the house.  It arrived today – and within minutes of Kaz finding it here (she was out when it arrived) she had the packet open and was trying to slip it on me.  I resisted as best I could but she got the better of me … this time.  I was out of it fairly quickly though … I reached up behind me with one of my paws and yanked that sucker off.  Well … well … well … it seems that it’s on … the battle of wits … Kaz versus me.  I know who my money’s on!

Meanwhile, I’m not sure why, but Kaz is doing what she calls an “experiment”.  She’s making notes on the whiteboard on the refrigerator and everything!  She now has 8 different brands of cat food and she’s letting me try them one at a time to see which of them I love more (or as she says “at least eat”).

It has been busy around here lately … I’ve been busy playing “cuddles and kisses” with Kaz … not quite sure why she doesn’t enjoy it as much as I do.  It’s cooler these days as well – which means I get to spend some time in the evenings in with Sooz on her electric blanket … before they throw me out of the bedroom so I have to spend my nights alone, on the couch … but at least they put a blanket on the couch for me to sleep on, or is that in.  Sooz even comes up to make sure I am nice and cosy and warm.  She’s lovely.  At least once of them is. Kaz is still taking photographs of me of course … a lot.  I do try different poses for her though, just to keep her interested.  I might even let her take a photograph of me in the new harness … but she’s going to have to work for it.

Lazy days and/are Sundays

There’s nothing quite like sleeping on the couch on a cold, wet day. Especially after one of the Mummies has taken the time to race me ragged around the bedroom with the stringy thing. No wonder I was ready for a huge nap!

The stringy thing having a rest and a snack.

It was a quiet day all round really – helped with (or is that by) the rain. Kaz was talking about taking the camera out but then said she wouldn’t because she didn’t want to get it wet. She was in her office most of the day so I just left her to whatever she does in there for hours at a time. I did notice that she put herself down for a nap this afternoon too … and that she purrs way louder than I do.

Me getting ready for when the Mummies are watching MasterChef.

I had to get my play in this afternoon with Sooz because tonight is Masterchef elimination and she and Kaz will be glued to the television set to see who will be eliminated. I wonder if they’ll cry like they did a couple of weeks ago. Big sooks that they are, especially Kaz.

Look … it’s a new bag … hopefully Sooz will want to go away with it really soon!

I was hoping they’d go to Toowoomba this weekend (don’t tell them though!) because I wanted Aunty M to come and look after me. She’s the only one who can answer a question for me: does she love Fruit Tingles so much that she would eat them if they had a USE BY date of FEB 2018. I don’t think Kaz would; I think Sooz might; I’m not even sure I would bother to look – and how long have they been putting USE BY dates on lollies anyway!?

Looking, looking, looking …

Where the h*ll do they keep disappearing to? Sometimes they are gone for an hour, sometimes a few, and then they can disappear for days at a time! Then they come waltzing in (they’re not bad dancers – mind you, they’re not the world’s best dancers either) as though they haven’t abandoned me, leaving me all on my own with Pinkie, and the stringy thing and my polystyrene claw toys (more on that later) and Graham and … oh, that may be why they’re always saying “too many toys by golly”. But this cat does not survive with toys alone … dammit I need human company! Someone for me to cuddle and kiss and rub noses with and to give me face rubs. Yes, that’s right … I need my Aunty M!

Looking …. looking … looking … nope, not in here.
Waiting … waiting … waiting … they’re not home yet.

And that’s not even the worst part … lots of times when they come home, they smell!  Did you know that we cats have an incredibly acute sense of smell … so I can tell when they’ve seen “others” … I hear their names sometimes … Bronte, Tilly and those two, I think they were on a FaceBook post titled “when cute meets cute” … Blue and Mimi.  Grrrrrrr.  I’ll give them cute.  Is it any wonder that I give Sooz and Kaz leg cuddles and kisses?

OMG … do they think they’re cute or what? This is Blue the dog and Mimi the cat!

My claw toys (the polystyrene inserts from the air fryer box) have been taken away by that brute Kaz. I begged, I pleaded, I beseeched (I looked up the thesaurus) but no, she would not keep them for me. Last time I saw them was Monday morning, on their way out to the rubbish bin.  I know I made a huge mess with them (but who doesn’t like snow?) and I know Kaz was a little concerned I may have been eating the polystyrene but that was no reason to remove them completely. We could have had supervised play dates – and Kaz could have kept the Black&Decker vacuum at the ready if she was that worried about the mess.

A little bit of snow … before the Claw Toys are sent away.
They’re home … with a new toy from Aunty Syl, plus I have my stringy thing for company (and comfort).
Nothing like a wee bit of sunshine … on my tummy (John Denver liked it on his shoulders … but what did he know?)
Another day done … and Nigey is … zzzzzzzzzz.

Out and about … or not

Kaz went off again this week and she was gone for two whole days! Well, she came home in the evening of the first day but she left before dawn on the second day! That’s what it felt like anyway. Sooz would tell it differently maybe. And Kaz. They would say she’d gone off to her volunteering gig. It just seemed that she was gone forever – even though she only does 8:30 to 4pm there. But she leaves home earlier than that so she can have a coffee with her new little friend in Chirn Park before she goes off to the Big Work House.  No, seriously, that’s what the coffee shop The Little Barista has on its wall – as well as its opening hours and a faded chalk message saying they are open Christmas Day. If Kaz and Sooz ever let me out at all, I might be able to find out if all that’s true or not. For all I know it could just be a story Kaz spins to keep me entertained because she knows I don’t get out … can’t get out.
I am planning my escape though … but don’t tell them. I want it to be a surprise. Heh heh… no, just joking. I know the only chance I have of getting out that front door is to put that harness on … and that’s not going to happen any time soon. I know Kaz has been looking for it but I have hidden it really well this time and she will never find it … never! Of course, that may not save me – I suspect Kaz is looking at something called a CAT VEST online – although I suspect it could be spelled STRAIGHT JACKET … oops, actually that’s STRAITJACKET – or something like that … we all know I can’t read – or, it seems, spell!

Sooz and Kaz are persisting with that squirter bottle when they consider I’m being less than my usual perfect loving and lovely self and when they can’t reach it they pretend they have it – they point at me with their hands like they’re holding the bottle and make squirting noises. Okay, okay, I’m not proud of it but sometimes it does work.
Otherwise everything is good here – they’re feeding me, and playing with me and doing a good job of cleaning out the litter tray (always very important). I think I’ll stay here a bit longer.

Having a nap with Kaz … now that she’s stopped that infernal singing.
