M Kaz went to see ‘Disclosure Day’ at the movies with Aunty M yesterday. I know that because as soon as she arrived home she told M Sooz – and me – about it. There were animals in it – a moose, a fox and a racoon and some birds – red ones – not surprising given Steven Spielberg’s role with the movie – he directed and produced it and the script was based on a story he wrote. It wasn’t just the cardinals (birds) that were red – there were also red dresses in Margaret Fairchild’s wardrobe and M Kaz said that reminded her of the red coat the little girl wore in ‘Schindler’s List’ (another Spielberg film). The good news is that she finally stopped talking about it and went off to make notes about some small issues she thought were problems with the plot line. How far can you drag a car under a train without it disintergrating with the force/pressure of impact/friction with the tracks? Used to be M Kaz could just go to a movie and enjoy it for what it was – without wanting to pull it apart – and we know she loves films by ‘the dinosaur man’.

It has been cold here – M Kaz has stored away her shorts until it gets a bit warmer and both she and M Sooz are wearing ‘trackie dacks’ now. That’s what they’re calling them and I admit I had to look them up to find out what they are (besides long almost furry pants):
From the interweb:  The “dacks” portion of the word stems from a popular 1930s British trouser brand called DAKS (originally a portmanteau of “dad” and “slacks”). Over the generations, it integrated into Aussie vernacular to describe pants in general.
Who knew?

I have been sleeping most nights in with the Mummies on their bed – snuggling up next to M Kaz’s legs. I know she says I take up a lot of room but I don’t think she knows what she’s talking about. I had her take a photo of where I was in the bed this morning when she got up – I had been sleeping peacefully on her legs just before then. Two inches of room is surely enough for anybody!!!

We have had a little rain here too and one of my Toady friends was out in the front yard the other morning when M Kaz was going off to the water to take photographs of the sun getting up and a bird with a branch. It was fun to watch how high M Kaz jumped when she almost walked into Toady.

Monday (8 Jun 26)

Happy Birthday M Sooz! Who knew you could get to be soooooo old? But it’s good to have birthdays so you can celebrate and so other people can celebrate with you too. And I know that’s what you were doing yesterday with Aunty M and M Kaz. I’m not sure where you were or what it was that you had to eat … seriously, I couldn’t tell what flavours there were on your breaths! I think I heard M Kaz talking about a ‘Macaron, smoked salmon, black garlic’ and a ‘Strawberry and champagne choux’ and some strange ‘flat, flaky’ scones – which all seemed a bit outside of the Mummies comfort zone – but I think that’s what Signature High Tea is all about. And it was a ‘high’ tea – they were on the 5th floor of the HOTA gallery at The Exhibitionist Bar. They all had a good time and they are still talking about their server, Chantelle, with her black hair and its different styling and her very very pale complexion. And they were talking about the view back over Surfers Paradise and the Gold Coast.

Sunday (31 May 26)

Cold?  I’ll say it was cold this morning.  Even when M Kaz came back from the water (and fruit shopping) I had no intention of getting out of the Mummies’ nice warm bed – especially now that the flannelette sheets have made an appearance.  Yes, the weather folk say it’s going to be a mild winter but it seems to have started at least a month earlier than it usually does.
I wish I could go with M Kaz to the markets today.  She has her heart set on getting an Authentic German Sausage there – she’s been thinking about it ever since Aunty M told them Mouse likes a visit to Bunnings for their sausage sizzle.
And we know it’s cold because M Kaz is sitting out in the sun as she transcribes this for me.  Or she has been – transcribing that is – she’s just fallen asleep out there. I’m keeping a lookout in case any of my friends decides to cuddle up next to her while her eyes are closed.  Yes, yes, the sound of M Kaz’s snoring should be enough to keep them away but we don’t want to take any chances.
