Mmmmmm … milkshakes

Yum … milkshakes and television!

Well that was a bit of a bust.  I had left the Mummies and Aunty M to watch Mare of Easttown but when I came back to see how they were going, they hadn’t been watching it at all … yes they had started but then there was a technical hitch and they ended up just chatting and watching Letters and Numbers (that’s a program) on SBS.  Then as if there hadn’t been enough spelling, the Mummies introduced Aunty M to Wordle – a word game on the internet where you have six guesses to find the word of the day. Today it was perky and Aunty M managed to get it in just three guesses – one whole guess better than the Mummies.  (Take that Mummies!)
Aunty M tried to do some washing while she was here – while she was still wearing her clothes.  I knew she was clever but that really was something to see.

M Sooz is a bit sad today.  Her very good friend So left for Central America today and she is going to miss her very much … and her cats because they are going with her … and Uncle David because he’s going too!  I hope they all like guinea pigs because I hear that’s what everyone eats over there.
M Kaz is still locked in her study … studying.  She’s up to the part in the assignment when she has to record herself speaking with someone (M Sooz) about the assignment.  That’s going to be fun … especially since I have see the glazed eyes when M Kaz talks about it (and not just from M Sooz!).

… and the little one said … roll over!

Australia Day

Australia Day was fairly quiet here except for the sound of fireworks off in the distance this evening.  M Kaz spent most of the day in her office … typing … typing … typing – except for when she came out for snacks and cups of coffee (she really does love her Aldi Wave coffee pod machine) or to cajole M Sooz into reading what she had written as part of her creative thinking assignment.  M Sooz was in her room reading Helen Garner’s Diary … or watching snake catcher videos (light relief!).  That meant I had to keep myself entertained most of the day. Thank goodness the sloths are friendly! Although we could do with some new little animals around here. l’ll speak with the Mummies about that. A Nigey can never have too many friends.

Shark! Shark!

Me:  It’s a shark!  It’s a shark!
MKaz:  I didn’t say that Nigey. I said it’s a “Hammerhead”.  That’s a plant.  That’s what the white flowers are.  Blah … blah … blah.

Yes, I stopped listening about then because M Kaz does go on a bit sometimes (well, a lot of the time actually).  The conversation came about because I was staring out the window and the Mummies were trying to work out what I was looking at … and M Kaz had come over to the window to look too.  That’s when she said “hammerhead” – and I admit to being a bit surprised because even though it has been raining a bit lately, I hadn’t realised it had rained so much that marine life would be encroaching into our yard. Apparently not … as it turns out. Who knew that hammerheads are plants … and what a strange thing to call them.  I suppose it’s no stranger than… well, you get the idea.

M Kaz took off with her camera this morning to do some photography in the Botanic Gardens and when she came back a couple of hours later, she told us that she had managed to take only a few photographs because she had ended up having coffee with their mate Ro over at the Gardens.  That was totally unexpected… especially as M Kaz had thought she was going off to wander the garden paths by herself and maybe photograph a bird or two. How plans change! But she did manage to get a couple of bird photographs. She could have done some bird photographs without having to leave home, of course, but … no, the birds are apparently better at the Gardens.

Saturday

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe … let’s see … where shall I sleep this time?  There is no shortage of options of spots around the house … and it’s nice to spread myself around so the Mummies don’t think I don’t like having the spots available.

I think Aunty M was a bit surprised when she found me sleeping among the sloths when she arrived this evening for the restitution of “video nights with the Mummies”.

They were supposed the be watching “Mare of Easttown”  but Mummy Kaz had not done her homework and they had to watch something else as well … “Annika” on ABC iView.  M Kazbah had watched the first episode already and had decided she would wait for M Sooz and Aunty M before watching anymore just in case they liked it and wanted to watch it too.  Judging by their reactions, they do want to … but are going to have to have the Subtitles turned on so they can all understand what is happening with the Glasgow Harbour Watch.  Who knew the Scottish accent could be so hard to understand? And, yes, they were speaking English!

Helping M Kaz in the office … with her study.

It rained again today but it was dey just long enough for the grass to dry out so M Kaz could mow part of the lawn.  She will (she assured herself) Do the rest of the lawn tomorrow – if the grass is dry enough.

And speaking of rain, I think Kaz fancies herself a bit of a Frog Whisperer. During last night’s rain there was a frog croaking (no, not that type of croaking) outside their bedroom and when she’d had enough of the noise, she told it to pipe down … and it did!  No one was more surprised than she … although M Sooz and I were right up there!
