Lennie … Lennie… where are you? Come back … all is forgiven! I’m really worried that I haven’t seen you in so long! And what have you done with Kermie? He’s missing in action too. I hope that Cecil that was here the other day hasn’t had anything to do with the two of you not being around. I get so lonely here sometimes and I just want someone to play with … or even just to talk to. The Mummies are sometimes so busy doing things that they just don’t have time for Nigey.

Trying to entertain myself …

What are they doing? Well, at the moment M Sooz is doing a lot of reading including Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann, and watching videos with The Seekers, as well as her usual snake catcher and street food videos (those last two are separate things … really!). M Kaz has a new lens for one of her cameras so she has been taking that out a couple of times – to the Botanic Gardens and also down to the Swell Sculpture Festival. If I’m over-hearing them correctly, she’s planning on going down early tomorrow morning to get the dawn shots that she was too late for on Tuesday.

Otherwise things are much the same around here … although we all spent time watching television last night to see the people in uniforms escort the gun carriage (“catafalque” said M Sooz way before the commentators did) bearing Queen Elizabeth II on The Final Journey from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall. They said the journey would take 38 minutes … and they were almost right – you know M Kaz was timing them!

This is my new bus … more about that next time!

Cecil …

I really don’t know why they don’t listen to me. Hmmm. I’ve been telling them for days that there’s been a Cecil in the yard but they only take notice when M Kaz screams “Snake! Snake!” She is such a baby about them. It’s not like they’re going to eat her on anything. And it’s not like I’m going to get out to go and play with Cecil, or bring him inside. Do Cecils eat Lennie’s? Is that why they haven’t been around for yonks?

There have been other lizards in the yard – I was able to play with one the other day while I was out there until it stopped moving … should have called it Possum because when I went off to the other end of the yard to find his friends he wandered off – M Kaz watched him take himself off under a leaf on the lawn … that’s if you can call it a lawn – it’s getting a bit long for that – which is why M Kaz didn’t see Cecil straight away. Hands up everyone else who thinks I won’t be allowed to go outside for a while – at least until Jazz comes to do the mowing, weeding and whipper-snippering.

Keeping busy …

Well, a Nigey has to keep themselves busy while the Mummies are keeping themselves busy. M Sooz was doing something called “prepping” for most of the day which meant she was standing at the sink making fizzy drinks and then making faces as she drank them, and then she writes something down in her book, goes into the bedroom to read for a while and then comes back out to do it all again.  I can’t figure out – if it’s that terrible, why does she keep doing it?

The other Mummy has been futzing around in her office again. I know she did have some work to do for Uncle Peter, but after that she was all over the place. I do know she was very happy that she had popped in to JB Hi-fi on the way home today. She went to their Camera area and couldn’t believe it when she saw a lens she could use on the Nikon I cameras she was about to throw out – so thank goodness for her procrastination!
Aunty M came to see me this morning before she and M Sooz went out to Brekkie. It was (a little bit) funny that when Aunty M arrived, M Sooz hadn’t opened the door so Aunty M couldn’t come in and play. M Kaz let her in though and then Aunty M could give me my head rub and pat.  I’m not sure where they were going for breakfast – but we all know what M Sooz did when she arrived back – fizzy drinks!

Yard time …

I cannot believe how windy it is out in the front courtyard this morning – or why M Kaz would have thought I wanted to go out there in it! I think she finally realised after I ran from one end of the yard to the other, and then made a bee-line to the front door so she would let me back inside. What had I done? Had I been a bad Nigey to deserve this kind of treatment? And don’t be such a sooky-la-la M Kaz it wasn’t that bad of a rope burn when you tried to stop my bolting down the yard! It didn’t even break the skin! What’s that … you only did it that way because you didn’t want me to be jerked back when you put the leash brake on? Well, I do appreciate that you would want to not have me hurt … but who’s the silly one now?

At least it has stopped raining and even though it did rain most of the night, by the time we were out in the yard this morning, it wasn’t even wet underfoot – that’s not to say it wasn’t a tiny bit moist – but all good!

There’s still no sign of Kermie or Lennie – and I am a bit concerned about them, especially as the Lennies have started coming out over at Mimi’s place. What does she have that we don’t … besides a pool, and water views, and a pier! Don’t get me wrong, we have good stuff too but obviously not the stuff that attracts Lennies and Kermies. Hmmm … although I do see a theme here … maybe we have to start leaving water out for them … especially as I think, but I could be wrong here, that Lennie is a water dragon! Hmmmm … more thought needed.

Let’s see, what else has been happening around here? Besides the rain, and the wind? M Kaz did take me out into the yard earlier this week (wow, that makes two times this week) so I was able to eat a little grass and chase some ants. Do you know how many ants are out there in the yard? Most of them are tiny – even when you’re looking at them from ground level … which is to say that I climbed the frangipani today and they looked even tinier from up there. No, there isn’t a photograph because M Kaz wasn’t expecting it and didn’t have time to get the phone out before I jumped back down. You can see where I was though because there are little drops of sap coming out of the branches where I clung onto them with my claws. (Yes, M Kaz says it is time for me to have them “done” again!)

M Kaz has been re-organising again and she has moved the kitchen trolley she has been hiding in the laundry out to near the table so she can put the Meta Portal on it. She can use the Meta Portal to make Messenger and Whats App video calls – and to play photos!

Oh wait, there was another thing. When the Mummies were away last week, they came back with a present for us. It’s really for M Kaz but she let me be near it too … it’s a green chair!
