Tuesday (4 Feb 25)

M Sooz has had a bit of a setback following her hospital visit.  She is having a problem with her left eye drooping – she can’t see out of it properly and she can’t keep it open.  M Kaz keeps taking photographs of it in case it gets worse so they can show Dr Sam what happened and how quickly.  M Sooz isn’t too worried about it though because Dr Sam said there could be some side effects like this – it was just good he warned them about it or they might have gone into a bit of a panic (we know that’s what M Kaz does sometimes because she doesn’t read up on things as much as M Sooz does).

It has been raining a bit lately (again) but that’s okay because it’s dry Outback and I enjoy being way up high on my tower (not too high though).

M Kaz has been spending a bit more time in her office and sometimes she lets me in there (when she’s not actually doing any work) and she lets me sleep in the drawer of her desk, right next to her.  Of course, I do have to try to dig my way deeper into the desk but she doesn’t seem to mind that.  Most of the time anyway.

HAL has been quiet the last week or so although M Kaz was setting up his cleaning schedule so he will go around the house this afternoon.  He doesn’t do a bad job although sometimes I do see M Kaz sweeping things into HAL’s path so she’s sure it will be picked up.  I think it’s a bit like when they tidy up before Aunty A gets here to do cleaning.  Funny thing is I don’t see M Kaz out there in the yard before Chris comes.  Hmmmmm.

Thursday (30 Jan 25)

Poor M Sooz.  I’m not exactly sure what happened to her while she was away but she came back without hair.  She had it when she left on Monday but when she came back on Wednesday it was all gone!  The least M Kaz could have done was to warn me!  But did she?  No, she did not.
So what did M Sooz have done?  Would you believe it was brain surgery. (‘It as least proves something’ M Sooz told M Kaz earlier today.  I’m still trying to work out what that means.)  So the brain surgery was to help M Sooz with the tremor she has in her hands.  They did one side this time, her right, because that is her dominant hand.  It is an amazing procedure and even though it was only done the day before yesterday, it has made an incredible difference.  There may have been tears when M Kaz was watching her eat.
While M Sooz was away, M Kaz was in their bedroom clearing out some of the things on M Sooz’s side of the bed so there’s now room for me to lie on the floor there and look out the window.  I like it – and now M Kaz has put a chair in there so I can be under it too.
Aunty M came to see me this morning … she took M Sooz out to breakfast – but not before M Sooz had chosen a cap to wear.  Of the five caps M Kaz brought in from the garage (is that where the caps live now?) M Sooz chose the black one.

Wednesday (22 Jan 25)

I wish I’d been in the car this morning on the way to the Hospital when M Sooz said “If I die on the table I want you to know … (then private Mummy stuff) …” and M Kaz said “What song do you want at your funeral?”. M Kaz had remembered it was “Song of the Hebrew slaves” and M Sooz hummed a few bars before she said “And just for future reference if anyone says – ‘If I die on the table …’ – you could say something reassuring like ‘Don’t be silly, you’re not going to’ not ‘What song do you want at your funeral?'” Those Mummies are so different!

They locked me in M Kaz’s office yesterday when Rod came to do the pest control stuff. They locked me in the bathroom last year; I can’t remember where they put me the year before that. I know it was somewhere because they have the pest man come every year. It’s not always the same one though.  He did the inside and the outside – but he didn’t see KB out there, or if he did, he didn’t say so.

Me with Sooty … he’s back … he’s back!

Well, M Kaz did take me to have my nails done yesterday and even though I did have words with her on the way there (and lots of them), I was glad when we came home straight after.  I had a male nail technician today – so that was a bit different.

The Mummies went over to Aunty M’s yesterday. (They had a busy day.) Mimi was there but she was asleep when they first arrived – as was Mouse. M Kaz was there to do some little “jobs” for Aunty M and her family. We know she loves doing them – and this was no exception: earbuds, Instagram, Britbox, and the printer. And now she has one to do at home. Apparently Aunty M doesn’t just peer through the window at them for no reason: the last time she came she’d tried the door bell and it didn’t work, so M Kaz needs to check what’s going on there. I think she probably just. needs to change the batteries on it and the receiving units. And she needs to change it so it” knocks” rather than “rings”.  But I’m not really conversant with how these things work so … watch this space.

Mimi 🙂

Saturday (18 Jan 25)

Me, lounging about.

Those Mummies love it when Aunty M comes to visit – I’m just not so sure that they like it when she comes to the window before she knocks on the door though. It doesn’t scare them as such – it just doesn’t give M Sooz much of a chance to get her modesty top on if they’re lounging about.

We (actually the Mummies) have been watching the ‘Call the Midwife’ Christmas special and they seemed to enjoy it very much. There’s only another 12 seasons to go until they’re all caught up. If I had to put a date on it – I’d say 16 August until they’re done.

I can’t help but wonder if there’s a connection between M Kaz starting to wear long pants again and that she’s now made an appointment for me to have my nails done at the salon (read: VET). Or is it that she’s worried that KB might be hanging out in the front yard and that long pants would be an effective barrier if they jumped out at her? M Kaz has the craziest thoughts sometimes but I suppose she really doesn’t want to have to run away from it – although given she would go jelly-legs and not be able to move, protection probably isn’t the silliest idea. She’d scream – I know she would – but given she hasn’t seen KB since that day with Uncle Wayne, chances are they are still around, on this side of the fence, are quite slim.

Aunty Wendy is coming to visit for the weekend and she and M Kaz are going to the Circus. I’m not quite sure what that is but M Kaz seems very excited. Animals have been mentioned but they’re not sure what types they will be. Hopefully she won’t bring any home with her. The last thing I need is to have to share my litter tray with someone else – I’m already sharing my bed!
