Monday

It was so cold today that we all spent the day rugged up – in our beds for M Sooz and I, and M Kaz was in her office trying to stay warm as she did “stuff”. The cold didn’t stop the Mummies from going out to breakfast but they were very careful about making sure they went to the warmest coffee shop they could think of. Mmmm… coffee. And hot chocolate. And tea. But what do they give me? None of them that’s for sure … they’re not even heating my water for me. But – and this is a good but, they have found new cookies for me – theyre the Cachet ones from Aldi, and they’re not too bad at all. M Kaz was trying them out on me the other day, when they first got them; she had put out some of each – Applaws, Fancy Feast and the Cachet – and then she kept watching me to see which I ate first … yes, just for her I went to the Cachet. She must know me fairly well because she didn’t put a lot of each down … just in case I started wolfing them down, which I probably would have because it is me after all.
M Kaz is warming herself up this evening watching “The Day After Tomorrow” where a new Ice Age hits the Northern Hemisphere. That and hot chocolate seem to be doing the trick. And the ugg boots, track pants, two flannelette shirts, a woollen vest and a beanie. Did someone say it’s cold?

Uh huh …

It’s Saturday again which means the Mummies are going out to breakfast with Aunty M.  Aunty M was here the other day to pick up M Sooz so they could go to breakfast – which meant M Kaz was here giving me her undivided attention – and that’s the way I like it … uh huh … uh huh.  I’m not usually musical but M Kaz has been listening to music as she works out what to transfer from her computer to her phone … I can’t say I’m a fan of all of it but there is some … uh huh … uh huh … I like it.  And it’s just as well I do because while she’s been doing it I’ve either been hanging around on the desk or at her legs … yes, kissing and cuddling … which is why she’s talking about having my claws trimmed when I go to see Aunty Rosemary next … although word is that Aunty M has said she could do it for me.  And why don’t M Kaz or M Sooz do it for me? I know they have the clippers here (somewhere!) … I think it’s because they’re scared of me, which is a bit odd because I really am a wonderful Nigey.

I’m so wonderful that I’ve been spending time in on the bed with them – and with the new box that M Sooz gave me. Actually, she’s given me two boxes this week – one she brought home for me from our favourite store (Aldi) and the other which came in the mail with her new Marion Grasby cook book – Always Delicious.  It’s funny because M Kaz keeps calling it Almost Delicious. She’s silly sometimes.

Plans are afoot to have the back deck filled in so we can all go out there and relax.  M Kaz has started “practice sitting” out there … so she can work out how it will feel once it is enclosed – I think she’s actually trying to work out where the sliding fly screens/shades are going to go so she can make sure she can still get the best direct sunlight during the winter.

It’s good helping the Mummies and I was helping M Kaz update her diary yesterday and I was in keeping M Sooz entertained as she was reading.  I like to try to spend equal time with them both!

So, baby Pea Hen chicks over the next block, hey M Kaz? I’d really love to go see them, and play with them. No, you don’t have to worry about me wanting to eat them. You know I only like seafood flavours.

M Sooz wasn’t “watching me like a hawk” (whatever that is … if you want to know you’ll have to ask the Mummies) and when she opened the front door when they were going out to the Post office and breakfast this morning, I was off like a shot … which means pretty darn fast. It’s a pity no-one told me it was raining before I made it outside. I took shelter under the bench as I waited for them to come get me and thankfully it didn’t take too long. They called for me to come out, which I did, and then I bolted for the front door. I personally think M Kaz is right to be cautiously alarmed when I go into the yard without my harness and lead. She knows that, at any given moment, I am just one thought away from making a break for it. That’s just what Nigeys do.

Sunday (last week)

We’ve all had a lovely quiet day today -although it was much quieter when the Mummies went out this morning. They were out a long time come to think of it. They went to “The Markets” and saw Aunty M, Mouse and the others and had coffee and fresh bread and jam – but that wasn’t all – they had GERMAN SAUSAGES. I’m not sure what GERMAN SAUSAGES are but the Mummies seemed very excited about them. M Kaz has been talking about them all week – since they were at “Thge Markets” last Sunday actually! I wish they had taken photographs while they were out – just so I could really see what they were up to … but, wait, Aunty M did – which is why she isn’t in the photograph!

The Mummies at “The Markets”

M Kaz took me for a walk outside this afternoon and it was wonderful. I ate some glass and looked for Lenny (Where on Earth are they? I haven’t seen them for ever!) … and did someone decide not to mow the lawn? It’s getting more than a bit long out there now … it’s almost up to my knees, well, my ankles at least. I didn’t try to scarper over the fence today but I am biding my time and will try again … soon.
