Tuesday

Well, they had me locked up for three days this time, and although Aunty Rosemary (of the no-longer-green-hair) and her helpers are nice, it isn’t the same as being at home!  Yes, as soon as I arrived back (after I checked to make sure my deck is still okay) I tried to turn my back on them – but the Mummies’ new beds are just so nice that I couldn’t keep it up.  And yes, my deck is still there and as wonderful as ever.  The even better news is that Uncle Wayne may be coming to visit next month – so we’re all looking forward to that.

I slept with M Kaz for part of last night, and then on the floor near the bathroom (it will be so good when they get the real bases for their new beds – with the lights underneath so M Sooz will be sure to see me when I’m there), and then on the couch between the two flamingo cushions.  It was a busy night.  M Sooz was up for part of it – she still isn’t sleeping well – but she should be sleeping better now that they know I am home and not locked up at Aunty Rosemary’s Disciplinary School for Wayward Cats.  What?  I never mentioned that’s what it’s called before? That’s one of the main reasons I don’t like going there … I’m not a wayward cat, and I certainly don’t require discipline – well … I don’t, I’m just a little high spirited sometimes.

There was a bit of excitement here this morning when M Sooz called out from the toilet that there had been a malfunction … she just said something had gone wrong (with the toilet!) but it’s important to try to expand our vocabularies.  Apparently, it had flooded in there and at first M Kaz thought it might have overflowed (now, where is that plunger, it was around here somewhere) but apparently it had seeped/gushed/escaped from around the bottom.  Some towels later (yes, it really is time for a proper mop not just the one they have for cleaning up small spills – theirs and mine) the floor was dry and M Kaz was waiting for it to be 8 am so she could call my mate Aiden, the plumber.  I think she’s going to ask him to change the taps in the main bathroom while he’s here.

And speaking of tradies, the electrician is due tomorrow.  I know M Kaz has been working on a list of things that need to be done, so that will be fun for him. There are light switches to fix, maybe fans to be changed, an air conditioner to be looked at, the sensor light at the front to be replaced … yes, definitely a few things because that’s not everything on the list!

It’s good they can hire folk in to do things for them because there is still no sign of my replacement cat grass.  I happened to see (espy) the old one on the front patio (portico –  a small one) on my way back from Aunty Rosemary’s and it definitely is not well.  M Kaz has been giving it water (and lots of it) but it doesn’t seem to be helping much.

Grass.  Hmmmm.  It’s a pity the Mummies didn’t let me out in the yard before Jazz’s guy came to mow and tidy up.  There’s hardly anything left worth nibbling on.  Yes, yes, we know it looks tidy, but that’s not the point.

Photos? Where are the photos? I’ve been locked up so there aren’t any … this time!

Sunday

It’s been hot, hot, hot today and those Mummies have been taking it quietly (I was going to say they’d been laying low but I wasn’t sure if it is/was “laying” or ”lying” – so, I went with something else entirely: when is doubt, leave it out!) I’ve been lounging on my deck! Yes, it’s been a bit on the warm but l’ve been coping. Sadly, my cat grass has not. I sometimes think the Mummies don’t want me to have nice things. Under M Sooz’s instruction, M Kaz has now cut it back, watered it and taken it out the front where, hopefully, it will make a swift recovery. There is still no sign of the replacement cat grass so until it appears or the other one grows back, there won’t be any eat grass for Nigey. Hopefully M Kaz will think to take me out the front so I can have a bit of a chew on some grass out there. And maybe see Lennie or Kermie. And maybe throw up. Or perhaps I could wait until I’m inside to do that.

The Mummies are very excited that their new bed is arriving this week. It’s actually two beds which they’ll push together to make it into one big one … they had better because if they don’t it means I will have to choose whose bed to sleep on and that’s a decision no Nigey should have to make! It’s bad enough now deciding where I’m going to sleep!

Let’s see … what else has been happening around here? The Christmas decorations have now all been put into boxes and M Kaz is making room for them on the shelves in the garage tomorrow. It’s been fun having then around the place – but I am going to miss the singing cow! At least there’s a video of it M Kaz or M Sooz can play to me until it’s time to bring him (or is it a her?) back from exile in December. Until then, maybe they can get some kangaroos or emus to have around the place for Australia Day … or rabbits and maybe some chickens in the lead-up to Easter.  Heh, heh, you would think we didn’t have any other furries around here … I’m not quite sure how many there are but I have a feeling there will be a few more found when the Mummies move their old bed out. There was a time there when I would use my claws to hook the furries off the bedhead and take them down under the bed. I’d like to say the Mummies were aware that some furries were missing but … alas … there are so many of then, they sometimes didn’t even notice. Too many toys by golly!?!
