Out and about … or not

Kaz went off again this week and she was gone for two whole days! Well, she came home in the evening of the first day but she left before dawn on the second day! That’s what it felt like anyway. Sooz would tell it differently maybe. And Kaz. They would say she’d gone off to her volunteering gig. It just seemed that she was gone forever – even though she only does 8:30 to 4pm there. But she leaves home earlier than that so she can have a coffee with her new little friend in Chirn Park before she goes off to the Big Work House.  No, seriously, that’s what the coffee shop The Little Barista has on its wall – as well as its opening hours and a faded chalk message saying they are open Christmas Day. If Kaz and Sooz ever let me out at all, I might be able to find out if all that’s true or not. For all I know it could just be a story Kaz spins to keep me entertained because she knows I don’t get out … can’t get out.
I am planning my escape though … but don’t tell them. I want it to be a surprise. Heh heh… no, just joking. I know the only chance I have of getting out that front door is to put that harness on … and that’s not going to happen any time soon. I know Kaz has been looking for it but I have hidden it really well this time and she will never find it … never! Of course, that may not save me – I suspect Kaz is looking at something called a CAT VEST online – although I suspect it could be spelled STRAIGHT JACKET … oops, actually that’s STRAITJACKET – or something like that … we all know I can’t read – or, it seems, spell!

Sooz and Kaz are persisting with that squirter bottle when they consider I’m being less than my usual perfect loving and lovely self and when they can’t reach it they pretend they have it – they point at me with their hands like they’re holding the bottle and make squirting noises. Okay, okay, I’m not proud of it but sometimes it does work.
Otherwise everything is good here – they’re feeding me, and playing with me and doing a good job of cleaning out the litter tray (always very important). I think I’ll stay here a bit longer.

Having a nap with Kaz … now that she’s stopped that infernal singing.

Small and yellow…

What’s this then … small, yellow, chewy – and I think that’s my name on it – “Stuart” or is that “Kevin” or maybe “Dave” – is one of them my name … I know Minions have those names but what about me? Hey, it’s not my fault I can’t read! Kaz and Sooz haven’t taught me yet.  Can you imagine all the things they are able to hide from me now which they wouldn’t be able to if I could read … like … hmmmm … what’s that “Nigey to Vet”. And don’t think I can’t hear you say – if I can’t read, how do I write my blog?  You’ll have to ask Kaz about that … I don’t think she wants everybody knowing how we do it … otherwise MiMi or others might try it too – and then I wouldn’t be quite so special … oh wait, who am I kidding … of course I would still be me, Nigey, the one and only.

I am loving Kaz and Sooz at the moment.  Kaz has been getting into air frying – which is odd because you wouldn’t think there would be that much nutritional value in air – although there was that mob in Helidon or wherever that was (somewhere in South East Queensland) who were living just on air – now that would really be something “special”. But, I digress, you saw pictures of me with the new Breville The Smart Oven with Air Fryer box last time … and I love it more and more every day. We now know that the sides are so big they don’t fold flat against the box – they form a tunnel on either side that I can (pretend to) hide in while we’re playing stringy-thing … and we all know how much I love playing stringy thing – even more than I love helping Sooz and Kaz make the bed – even when Sooz lets me get under the fitted sheet! That makes for a really good game of “Where’s Nigey”.

Me in one of the tunnels. See you can hardly see me … and you certainly wouldn’t be able to see my tail sticking out the other end.
Waiting for Sooz to give me the stringy-thing (while Kaz takes my photo … she’s been doing a lot of that lately).

An came today … and I am pleased to say I am getting much braver around the monster of a vacuum cleaner she keeps bringing back time after time, even though I ask her (read:  beg her) not to.  Kaz and Sooz went out and left me alone with An (and her vacuum) today and I am pleased to say that I survived … but I was really glad to see them when they arrived home!

About to have a nap in the (full) laundry basket …watched over by the ever-alert Astro. It’s good to have friends!

I suspect Kaz may know that I have been playing with her toys – she’s started locking some of them away – including the zebra that nods when she pushes its bottom … shame, because that one is really nice to chew – which is more than I can say about the tablet they’ve been trying to feed me today.  Kaz even tried to pretend it was a Greenie treat … but I was cleverer than that!

What’s up … ?

I really am not going to play with them if they keep using that darn squishy bottle. I’ve really only seen it once before now, when Wayne came to visit a couple of months back but now it lives in the bedroom and as soon as I even look at the bedside tables either Sooz or Kaz whips it out, points it at me and shakes it so I can hear the water slosh.  Scary?  They wish!  but I am way tougher than that … and they know that now . In a way that’s not a good thing because they have overcome their reluctance to squirt water at me.  Why can’t I be like Aunty M’s MiMi?  Wait … who said that?  Yes it was me .. Aunty M was telling my humans (and others) at breakfast the other day that she saw where a cat just like MiMi loves water … and even goes swimming at the beach.  Can you imagine that?  A cat loving water … or is that a water-loving cat?  Yeah … okay … but does it like getting squirted with it?

Me posing with my new box!

Yippee!  A touch of redemption for them … Sooz and Kaz bought me a new box today and I love it! It is huge … and inside it there was another big black box!  I love that one too – although Kaz keeps saying that I have to stay away from it because it will get hot once she starts using it.  Sure … like that’s going to happen.  Can you imagine? Kaz cooking?  I’ve been here over a year and it’s happened maybe a dozen times … or maybe a few more than than … but not a lot.

… and me with the black box!

But she seems enthused by this new box – a, no the Smart Oven TM Air Fryer by Breville.  I will say though that she had been using the other Air Fryer – and she kept saying it was too small for what she wanted to do. So, stay tuned for … the cooking report.

Yoda, me and a flanny!

Sooz and Kaz went shopping for some flannelette (flanny) shirts for me the other day, and they are fantastic.  Sooz put one of hers on the couch for me this evening and I dropped off straight to sleep – they thought it was because it was because it was so warm and cuddly but really it was because I’d had enough of MasterChef for one evening!
But speaking of MasterChef, Aunty M was over yesterday and she tricked out some grapes to make them look like mice!  Wow! Will be interesting to see if Kaz’s cooking skills ever reach that level.
