Deja vu … one word or two?

Deja vu.  That’s a thing, right?  Where you get the feeling that you’ve done exactly the same thing before.  Like when Kaz gets really excited when she gets a package from Amazon and she says those words “You are going to love this Nigey” – which we all know means nothing of the sort.  Yes, the new harness has arrived – a couple of sizes larger than the one that went off to my nemesis Mimi (may she wear it in good health) and in fluorescent orange.  I don’t think I’m going to be able to hide this one as successfully as the one before the last … which Kaz still hasn’t found!
Anyway, within minutes of her tearing the new harness out of its package, she was calling me to come and try it on.  Hmmm.  To go or not to go, that was the question.  And there might have been a choice if I didn’t know that Kaz would come and get me if I didn’t go … or if I had actually been anywhere but two feet from her at the time!  She said it was going to be easier to get this one on and that would have been so if I didn’t know how to fold my arms (read: legs), and then cross them, and then wriggle like crazy to prevent the harness being slipped on.  But, you have to give it to Kaz, she kept trying until she managed to do it.  And then you have to give it to me … I just laid there with it on, then jumped on the floor, and then Tas’d my way out of it.  (That would make more sense if you knew Tas – the whirling Tasmanian Devil cartoon character!). Anyway the score stands at Me:1 Kaz:0.  Let the games resume!

Me – not impressed!

Milton?

It took a while but I finally found out why Kaz was calling me Milton recently when I played in one of my boxes.  But before I explain, I just need to take a second to say how strange my humans are (sometimes).  They delight in knowing what they call Trivia … and they even used to go out and play it on Monday nights … but that was before the COVID lockdowns changed life as they know it and brought about a “new normal”.  Hmmm … except that they are home more and they keep more food on hand for me – and toilet paper for them – it hasn’t changed all that much here for me!

It is now getting a little bit back to normal in that they have been able to go back to their Trivia … except it’s not their Trivia any more.  They went back last week and they keep talking about the new “format” and the new “host”.  And they have started doing more Trivia “research” by asking each other questions off the interweb and coming up with random “facts” … like “What was the name of Schrödinger’s cat?”.  (And what are those two dots above that o called?) And that’s where Milton comes in … from what I understand, it wasn’t the name of “the” cat from Erwin Rudolf Josef Alexander Schrödinger’s famous “experiment” because it wasn’t really an experiment – more of a discussion … but Milton was the name of a cat Schrödinger had. Phew … and believe you me, Kaz took longer than that to explain it!

Smart I am …

I think I walked in on Kaz at the wrong moment – she was waggling her chest at one of the screens she watches movies on – and she obviously knew what she was doing …. because she looked a little embarrassed when she saw that I was watching her.  As it turned out, she was watching “Jurassic Park” – and they were up to the part where they were showing the merchandise that would be available as part of the franchise – and what she was waggling at the screen was the Jurassic Park tee-shirt she was wearing.  It is one of her favourite ones and it looked as though it had taken her a little by surprise to realise she was wearing it … and watching it.  Given the amount of times she has watched films in the franchise though, the law of averages said it was only a matter of time before the two coincided.  And once she finished “Jurassic Park”, you know she started watching the next one … and I know she’s just going to keep going.

Me and some of the washing …

She still had time to sneak outside and bring in the rest of the washing while I was sleeping though.  I’m glad she did because once she had it inside, Sooz folded it up … and then because Kaz couldn’t make it fit into the Manchester cupboard (I know she has plans for re-folding and re-arranging things in there), she popped the towels and sheets into Sooz’s “office” – and that was where she and Sooz found me later this evening (after they watched the Semi-Final of MasterChef … and yes, there may have been tears there!).
It’s actually not bad being a cat here – most of the time.  They let me eat what I want – most of the time.  They let me sleep where I want – most of the time.  But they are still locking me out of the bedroom at night, even though I have been trying to show them that I actually can sleep in the bedroom without giving them – or Kaz’s sleeping machine – grief.

Me … ignoring the “Intelligence Test” for the minute.

They know I am intelligent though … as well as cute … and this evening Kaz has me doing something she calls an “intelligence test”.  This comes about because I had my stringey thing out with my dinner bowls and I knocked the soft squishy birdy part under the washing machine … and now before I can take it to them to get them to play with it with me, I have to work out how to get it out from under there.  Kaz said she isn’t going to help me because she knows I can do it … although I think it’s really because she knows that if I can’t get it out, I can’t take it to her and Sooz to make them play with me.   Hmmmmm.  I think Kaz even hides my stringey things in the box sometimes so I won’t know where to look for them!
