The cage …

What the … ?  Just … what the … ?  I know I have been wanting to go outside (and not with that stupid harness on Kaz) but what was she thinking yesterday!  She came in carrying a red and wire cage … I think I remember from over a year ago when she took me to the vet for a big sleep … and then when I came home I had to be a ConeHead for a while – like a week or 10 days – so I wouldn’t pull out my stitches before the vet could!  Oh my … there are some not pleasant memories there.

The cage … and the cone!

And then, here’s the cage again … I didn’t have to wonder what it meant for long because Kaz had scooped me up, put me in, and then held my head down as she lowered the trap door … oops, that would be the lid.  She threw a towel over the whole thing and off we went … I think An was just coming in as we were leaving because there was some talking … but then Kaz and I were in the car and on our way … to the vet!  It can never be anything nice can it … but at least I should be thankful that there was no temperature-taking this time (that can be a wee bit uncomfortable) – and I know my weight now – 5.35kg.  So, I was there to be vaccinated (whatever that is … but I can tell you it does involve a jab with a needle) and having my claws clipped (try saying that 10 times quickly).  It wasn’t totally unpleasant and I do have new food from the vet now … which is so yummy that when Kaz was getting me some out this morning and putting it on my bowl, I had to have some before she could even get it down off the bench.  Mmmmm … scrumptious!

In the cozy bed Sooz set up for me.

I was a bit tired last night though and I spent most of the evening curled up in Kaz’s arms at the table while she watched The Mentalist (he’s already taken care of Red John so it wasn’t too scary) and played one of her Casino games on her tablet.  She called Sooz out to have a look at me at one point because she was concerned that there was something wrong with me – maybe a reaction to the vaccination – because I was … what was the word she used …. “quivering” – which is odd because I always thought that had something to do with arrows.
When she went to bed she carried me to my bed on the couch (thank you Sooz!) and told me to let them know if I needed them during the night.  I didn’t though and I must have had a good night’s sleep because the next thing I knew there alarms were going off and Kaz was coming out to feed me.  Then, tummy full of yummy food, I joined Sooz on the bed for my morning nap … in Tibet … actually under Sooz’s shawl which has a label which says “Tibet”.  I don’t know what it is about Kaz at the moment but she seems to be taking more photos of me than usual – especially when I’m trying to sleep … in Tibet – or anywhere really!

Me … in Tibet.
Me … in my box with just some of my toys.
Me … on a box doing a little grooming.

Under… or on … the bed

I love the new electric blanket!  Sooz sometimes has it on during the day and it’s wonderful to cuddle up next to her and have a nap.  It would be even better if they let me sleep on it all the time but they are still insisting on locking me out of the bedroom at night.  I showed them the other night though – just as Kaz was getting ready to put me out (do they not realise I can hear what they are saying?), I dove under the bed so she couldn’t reach me.  She is so predictable!  She went out to the kitchen and rattled my cat cookies as though I would go running for them: nope.  Next she pretended she was opening the door to outside as though I would make a dash for it: nope.  And then she settled in bed pretending she was going to sleep as though I would fall for that trick and jump up on to the bedside table: nope … almost.  I managed to resist for nearly half an hour and then I only came out because I was positive Kaz couldn’t possibly still be pretending to be asleep;  usually her head hits the pillow and she drifts off mid-sentence – usually hers! But no … she was still awake and before I knew it, the light was on (does she not realise how sensitive my eyes are?), she was sitting up in bed, scooping me up and, laughing manically (or so it seemed to me), carrying me out to my bed on the couch in the living room – before she ran back to the bedroom, calling out over her shoulder something that sounded like “night Nigey” and then “Karen: 1 Nigella: none” – and then I couldn’t hear any more because she shut the bedroom door.  Sometimes crying outside the closed door will get me back in, but I had no doubt that it wouldn’t this time.

Sooz and me napping on the new electric blanket.

Kaz has been getting up a bit earlier – her alarm goes off just after 7 (so she can feed me) but often she hits the snooze button and goes down for a bit more of a kip. Not the last couple of days though … there has been noise somewhere outside and she has been getting up and coming to stand in the bathtub to look out my window.  It turns out the neighbours have put in a new garden shed – which peeks just over the side fence, but it’s almost the same colour as it, so that’s not too bad. I don’t know what they’re going to be like when they start putting that lighting tower up out the back.  I reckon that will be a bit noisy.

Me on the electric blanket.

I really freaked Sooz out the other day.  I know she’s not that keen on having Cecil in the yard so the other day, when we were home alone, I sat at the glass doors in the bedroom just looking around intently.  She didn’t know what I was looking at … which was a big nothing … but it really did have her going.  I heard her tell Kaz about it when she got home.

Me ... resting after playing the joke on Sooz.

And speaking of them getting home … and I think this has a lot to do with Cecil, or maybe just that the sensor light doesn’t cast enough onto the front door, but when they come home at night know, Kaz is wearing a light on her head!  It looks odd, and it’s really bright, but they both seem to think it’s a good idea.

Me ... sleeping out on my bed … without an electric blanket.

Stringey Thing

I just love Aunty M! She was at Trivia with Kaz and the others last night (Sooz stayed home to keep me company) and sent home a stringey thing for me … and it’s exactly the same as my favourite one which I have “loved” so much that the bell no longer works, the cord is tangled and the top has almost been bitten through.  How lucky am I?  Because not only did I get that … but Kaz and Sooz also opened the box that’s been sitting in the bedroom the last couple of days … and they took a big blanket it out of it and then they let me help them put it on the bed!  And then … and this is the exciting part … they gave me the box and it is big enough for me to sit in … and it even has a little window in the front so I can look out of it while I’m in there.

Sooz and Kaz are so good to me most of the time that I really don’t have an excuse for giving them leg cuddles and kisses – except that I love them so much and it is one way that I can show them how much.  Other cats do it too.  Hmmm, I wonder if my nemisis MiMi does.  Someone will have to ask Aunty M.

And speaking of the Mummies, they still haven’t found a new program to watch on television now that MasterChef is over for the year. I have been trying to let them know that there’s a new program coming to Channel 7 soon which has a couple of the judges from last year’s MasterChef in it.  They might like that.  Certainly they have to like it more than the revamped Living Room … which neither of them liked this evening when they were watching it.

It’s still Winter so I’m still wearing their Flannies, and hanging out in my window seat.  Does it get any better?

Not more photos …

Aunty M came yesterday morning and gave me the bestest face rub!  She is definitely my favourite – not counting Kaz and Sooz, of course, they’re still the ones who feed me most of the time.  And speaking of those two, it’s probably time that they both went away for a while so Aunty M will come and spend more time with me!  I thought that was going to happen last weekend but only Kaz went.  Darn!

Me … warming up the exericse bike for Kaz & Sooz.

It has been a busy week here.  The harness keeps making an appearance – and Kaz has managed to get me into it again – and I managed to get out of it … again.  She was last seen fiddling around with it – I think she’s tightening teh straps.  Let’s see how long it is before she tries to get it on me again.  I think we’re now at Me: 1.5 Kaz:0 Undecided: .05.  I couldn’t believe it when she sent a photo of me and the harness to Aunty M … suggesting I had it on – but it was just that Kaz had put my tail in it while I was sleeping.  Bad form!

No, Kaz – this does not mean I’m in or wearing the harness!

Not one to let me be, Kaz has been taking photos of me whenever I do anything … except abluting and eating that is.  When I’m trying on the Coke box for size – there she is; when I’m asleep on the bed on the flannies – there she is; when I’m sitting on her computer station in the bedroom – there she is. But, she did bring me a new bag on Wednesday – that they were given by Aunty M’s cousin Mi [not to be confused with Aunty M’s cat MiMi).  Kindness runs in that family!

It’s true … I do go with everything!
Kaz taking a photo of me in the bedroom (tidy, hey?).

Sooz has been keeping me company on the bed for part of this week … but it is way less fun since her electric blanket stopped working.  The best I can do is snuggle up close to keep warm – or lie in the sun next to the window doors.

Mmmm …. sunshine.
