Sunday (12 Oct 25)

This time a year ago the Mummies were away and Uncle Wayne and I were living our best lives – yes, that’s right, he is allergic to me and all cats but I am not as bad as some … black cats seem to be the worst and we all know I only have a little bit of black on me (and ‘in’ me bwaaahaha). Well, Uncle Wayne has just left here to go back to Toowoomba so I have reclaimed my bedroom.

Before that, I was having to file myself in M Kaz’s wardrobe – it’s cosy enough but not really conducive to stretching out in bed. I also spent some time in my air fryer box which had been moved from the table to on the floor near the dining room table, and I also spent time in my mango box on the couch next to M Kaz while they were watching Richard Osman’s House of Games (which they have now finished).

While Uncle Wayne was here, he taught/reminded M Kaz how to use the BBQ, bought a new gas cylinder and had it filled – it’s a lovely yellow, hung up a picture for Aunty M, and did some shopping and cooking with the Mummies. He went down to the Broadwater with M Kaz every morning and they enjoyed some lovely sunrises with the group down there – and he played with Jesse on the days that he and his mother were there.

Aunty Wendy came to visit while Uncle Wayne was here too.  She sat out with him (well, both she and M Kaz) sat out there with him as he worked the BBQ. He also listened when M Kaz said the BBQ was too low for her – and unless it was higher, even though it was a lovely way to cook, she probably wouldn’t – so he built a platform for the BBQ to rest on so M Kaz could use it without complaining about how it was hurting her back. (Yes, she is a bit of a whinger!).

And yes, I did remember that I used to live with Aunty Wendy before I came to live with the Mummies – and even though she has new shoes now – and so she should because I’ve been at Jannie for over five years now – I still enjoyed sitting with her shoes like I used to when I lived with her. I wonder if M Kaz still has my baby photos from then.

Tuesday (29 Sep 25)

How many rolls of toilet paper do those Mummies need? I only ask because M Kaz came home with 48 rolls of it today from the shop – but not just any shop. M Kaz has been to … drumroll please – Costco – home of bulk quantities at low prices. I guess we can all be surprised that M Kaz spent only $120 on her first visit to an establishment offering groceries, appliances, electronics, apparel and … well, obviously not cat food or crunchies because I can’t believe M Kaz would have seen it and not brought some (well lots) home for me.

What else did she bring home? Baked beans were there (… hmmm those toilet paper rolls are starting to make a bit more sense now), mandarins, almonds and rocky road. Rocky Road? From Costco? In bulk? What the … and still M Kaz didn’t come back with anything at all for me.

Sunday (28 Sep 25)

M Kaz has finally coaxed me up onto the couch to sit with her in the evenings while the Mummies are watching television. It came about while Uncle Wayne was here and M Kaz had one of my boxes on her lap and I jumped into it – and stayed there. She’s kept it on the couch next to her since then and I often jump into it. I was in my box again this evening – for a while before M Kaz gave me a chip which didn’t agree with me and after I did a bit of a “yawn”, I was out of there. I swung past later to make sure M Kaz had taken care of “things”as I was making my way through to my bedroom.

Thank goodness the Mummies stopped watching television after they’d seen House of Games this evening. Well, M Sooz did because she went to bed to read and M Kaz went into her office – I think she was working on her computer and also watching something in there – the good news is that it was not “Midsomer Murders”. It was something she has been watching over the last little while – some science-fiction show. She loves science fiction.

M Kaz was calling me a” copy cat” this afternoon. It took me a while to work out what she was on about but when she prised me away from where I was sitting on the top of the photocopier so she could scan another page, I understood the reference.

Saturday (27 Sep 25)

Those Mummies were both out of Jannie by 8am this morning – on their way to Broadbeach and the surf club there to meet the others for breakfast.

M Kaz didn’t go down to the Broadwater today to take photographs of the sunrise – and pelicans. There are always pelicans. And there’s always a cup of coffee for M Sooz that M Kaz brings back for her. She never brings me one back but if M Sooz has a biscuit with her coffee, she always shares that with me. The good news is that she doesn’t expect me to share my cookies with her. She’d be welcome to my teeth cookies. I’m still not having any of those regardless of how much M Kaz tries to hide them in among the cookies I do like.

I have taken to helping those Mummies with the washing. I’d help them put it away if I could but I can’t so I do my best to ensure the washing doesn’t fly away if a breeze comes up. I could do that all day – and night if I wasn’t busy holding the covers on the Mummies beds. No wonder I’m so tired sometimes. I don’t think the Mummies understand how much I do for them, well, maybe they do understand it but I don’t think they really appreciate it. If they did, they’d buy me more toys – or stop hiding those teeth cookies in my food.

No… no… no… no… I can’t say that enough. i had to take myself off last night because M Kaz was watching “Midsomer Murders”. Again. I cannot believe it – she’s watched all 24 seasons of that show at least twice and now she’s watching it again. I like Inspector Barnaby as much as the next person but – and please listen when I say this M Kaz – just no.
