Wednesday (22 Jan 25)

I wish I’d been in the car this morning on the way to the Hospital when M Sooz said “If I die on the table I want you to know … (then private Mummy stuff) …” and M Kaz said “What song do you want at your funeral?”. M Kaz had remembered it was “Song of the Hebrew slaves” and M Sooz hummed a few bars before she said “And just for future reference if anyone says – ‘If I die on the table …’ – you could say something reassuring like ‘Don’t be silly, you’re not going to’ not ‘What song do you want at your funeral?'” Those Mummies are so different!

They locked me in M Kaz’s office yesterday when Rod came to do the pest control stuff. They locked me in the bathroom last year; I can’t remember where they put me the year before that. I know it was somewhere because they have the pest man come every year. It’s not always the same one though.  He did the inside and the outside – but he didn’t see KB out there, or if he did, he didn’t say so.

Me with Sooty … he’s back … he’s back!

Well, M Kaz did take me to have my nails done yesterday and even though I did have words with her on the way there (and lots of them), I was glad when we came home straight after.  I had a male nail technician today – so that was a bit different.

The Mummies went over to Aunty M’s yesterday. (They had a busy day.) Mimi was there but she was asleep when they first arrived – as was Mouse. M Kaz was there to do some little “jobs” for Aunty M and her family. We know she loves doing them – and this was no exception: earbuds, Instagram, Britbox, and the printer. And now she has one to do at home. Apparently Aunty M doesn’t just peer through the window at them for no reason: the last time she came she’d tried the door bell and it didn’t work, so M Kaz needs to check what’s going on there. I think she probably just. needs to change the batteries on it and the receiving units. And she needs to change it so it” knocks” rather than “rings”.  But I’m not really conversant with how these things work so … watch this space.

Mimi 🙂

Saturday (18 Jan 25)

Me, lounging about.

Those Mummies love it when Aunty M comes to visit – I’m just not so sure that they like it when she comes to the window before she knocks on the door though. It doesn’t scare them as such – it just doesn’t give M Sooz much of a chance to get her modesty top on if they’re lounging about.

We (actually the Mummies) have been watching the ‘Call the Midwife’ Christmas special and they seemed to enjoy it very much. There’s only another 12 seasons to go until they’re all caught up. If I had to put a date on it – I’d say 16 August until they’re done.

I can’t help but wonder if there’s a connection between M Kaz starting to wear long pants again and that she’s now made an appointment for me to have my nails done at the salon (read: VET). Or is it that she’s worried that KB might be hanging out in the front yard and that long pants would be an effective barrier if they jumped out at her? M Kaz has the craziest thoughts sometimes but I suppose she really doesn’t want to have to run away from it – although given she would go jelly-legs and not be able to move, protection probably isn’t the silliest idea. She’d scream – I know she would – but given she hasn’t seen KB since that day with Uncle Wayne, chances are they are still around, on this side of the fence, are quite slim.

Aunty Wendy is coming to visit for the weekend and she and M Kaz are going to the Circus. I’m not quite sure what that is but M Kaz seems very excited. Animals have been mentioned but they’re not sure what types they will be. Hopefully she won’t bring any home with her. The last thing I need is to have to share my litter tray with someone else – I’m already sharing my bed!

Sunday (12 Jan 25)

M Kaz must like the rain because she’s gone out in it twice this morning – once to go down to the Broadwater and again to go to the Markets. Me? I’m not budging from from chair under the table – unless HAL comes out again. He must be on a timer because he was zooming around yesterday afternoon before M Kaz was back from the shopping. I don’t think M Sooz likes him either because she closed the door so he couldn’t get into their bedroom. She must know something because I was sure I heard her telephone alarm go off before she closed the door!

Water … lots of it!

They have started watching ‘Call the Midwife’ – from the beginning. That should keep them going does a while because Season 14 is about to start. I wonder how many episodes there are in a season. Hmmmmm.

Did I mention it’s raining. Coming down in buckets! Oh wait … that’s not true.  There is a bucket out the front but Uncle Wayne put it there to catch water so the cat grass has a chance of getting some water. (We know about M Kaz and plants. It often does not end well.) The cat grass does appear to be surviving so the bucket trick is working!

Monday (6 Jan 25)

The Christmas decorations have only been taken down
and put away for a couple of hours … and I miss them
already. The only one they’ve left up is the Eiffel Tower with the coloured lights – and they’re not putting that away because it reminds them of Paris. I think they liked Paris a lot! M Kaz has even changed her profile picture to the one with the Mummies with the vintage deux chevaux (2CV) outside their hotel in Paris after they’d been on the night tour to see the twinkling Eiffel Tower.

M Kaz keeps saying she’s going to go into the garage and finish decluttering in there but she hasn’t yet. She’s been trying to find an app to put on her phone so she can track what she has to do. It might just be because I have never felt the need to have a ‘to do’ list but you would think she could just go and do it rather than having to write it down first. I guess this way she can track what she’s done – when she actually does it.

Not sure I like HAL.

I am surprised that M Kaz is still getting up early to go down to the Broadwater. She’s usually out the door just after 5am but sometimes when she actually wants to photograph the colours of the sunrise, she leaves way earlier. It will come as no surprise that M Sooz and I are not actually fully awake when that happens. I’m not sure what happens down there but she doesn’t come back for a couple of hours some days.

Nothing much is happening around Jannie at present – it’s hot, it’s wet, it’s cooler (when those Mummies have the air con on) and there are a few critters around – dinosaurs and such but I haven’t noticed the tiny tiny canetoad-thingies that Uncle Wayne loves so much.

Cat fishing?
