Thursday (20 June 2024)

Brrrr. It’s colder than it has been and I am defintely cuddling up with those Mummies to sleep. And that works well for all of us – until I wake up just after 5am and want the Mummies to get up too so they can feed me or play a game with me. I’m sure this is why M Kaz locked me out of the bedroom the other morning – although, to be fair, it may have been a bit earlier than that.

Of course, my naughtiness doesn’t end there. I don’t know why but I feel strangely attracted to scratching the television at the moment. I just can’t help getting up there and then having a scratch. I don’t think those Mothers are that keen on me doing that though because M Kaz has found the red spray bottle – and she’s not afraid to use it. It would be scarier if it worked all the time – but it doesn’t and I don’t want to have to be the one to point out that she needs to buy a better bottle if she wants it to be an effective deterrent. Otherwise, I’m just going to keep getting up there – and she’s just going to have to keep getting off the couch to reach me. Hmmmm … if she was really clever, she’d invest in a water pistol – no, no, not a supersoaker. She’ll never think of that though – I hope.

Otherwise nothing much has been happening here – which is why I haven’t been posting all that much. It could be because M Kaz’s fingers have been a bit frozen, which does make it a bit harder for her to type up my blog for me. She and M Sooz have actually been spending some time in the mornings Outback with me – because it is so much warmer there than in the house. It is nice having breakfast or morning tea with them out there – especially when they’re having those Parle-G biscuits that I love. Uncle Wayne loves them too – he likes his dipped in milk.

I keep looking but I haven’t seen any snakes in the yard since the plumber was here. M Kaz has said there have been sightings around the area – she’s seen people talking about it on the local FaceBook group. She’s taking it seriously – she’s made a note of the contact details for the local snake catcher.

Happy Birthday M Sooz! At least M Kaz let you sleep in before she took you out to brekkie with friends – and brought you home so you could look at all your FB messages before you went out to lunch.

Well, Uncle Wayne has finished his jobs at Jannie and has gone back to Toowoomba – where I think he’ll last just a couple of days in their cold before he packs up his caravan and heads north to the warmth. He was telling M Sooz the other day that 27 degrees is his “happy place”. I can understand that because he and M Kaz are sun-seekers like me. M Sooz is not.

Monday (3 June 2024)

There’s a new box in town!  I heard them talking about it while I was Outback this morning and I came racing in – and just as well M Kaz had already taken the new vests out because that meant there was room for me in there.  It’s very comfortable and a bit bigger than anything else I have at the moment, and it’s enclosed, a bit, so we can put it down with the gingerbread house and my patio and we can have an extension or maybe it could be the granny-flat.  I think it going there though means that the car and the soft basket will be relocated so there’s room for them to walk in there.  It doesn’t bother me but it does seem to bother them a little when they can’t manouevre in the living area safely.  Must be because they only have two legs.

I love it when M Kaz cleans out my litter tray.  I had a fresh one last week when they went up to Toowoomba – and the other one had been cleaned out too so there were choices and I’d have the illusion of clean litter if Aunty M hadn’t been able to get to me – but she did.  I am down to one litter tray today – all fresh – and I wasted no time jumping in it as soon as M Kaz spread the litter evenly in there.

I’m very excited because Uncle Wayne is coming today!  Yes, M Kaz has lined up a couple of jobs for him to do, but not many, and he can spend time relaxing with me while he’s here.  I think M Kaz has found some movies for them all to watch as well.  And, of course, she’s been Outback just doing a bit of a tidy-up after she moved things around last week in case Brendan (our new plumber) needed to get to the drain access points.  The washing tub is fantastic for a Nigey to catch some rays.

Saturday (1 June 2024)

It was good to have the Mummies back. I think I missed them and I have tried to keep them entertained since they arrived home – running and jumping all over the place, jumping up with the television (I know M Kaz can’t really spray me with water while I’m with the electricals – but I don’t know that she knows that I know – so let’s not tell her), getting up on top of the shower screen and then sitting on the ledge over the bathtub. I waited there while M Kaz went off to get her phone to take a photo.

The only strange thing is that when they go off overnight to wherever it is they go to, they come back smelling of dogs. I could smell three on them today and they weren’t at all apologetic to have carried so many pooch perfumes back with them.

The good thing about them going off and leaving me home alone is that Aunty M, and sometimes her Mum too, comes to visit me – and she did again this time … twice! Thank you Aunty M.  I don’t know if she worked out on either visit what I’d done in the Mummies bedroom. No, it wasn’t anything like that! I’d made M Kaz’s bed-goes-up-bed-goes-down go into the totally ‘up’ position.

Did I mention that one of the things I love about Aunty M is that she only brings one dog smell in with her – or maybe two, but that’s the most!
