Sunday (30 June 2024)

I don’t think M Kaz realises that it’s a game – this whole thing of keeping me away from the television set. And it is a great game – seeing how many times I can make her get up from the couch to shoo me away from the set. Nigey 375: M Kaz 0. Well that may not be the exact score but it’s pretty close. I notice that she’s not even bothering with the spray bottle now but she has started threatening me with Uncle Wayne and what he’ll do if he finds me up near the TV. We’ll see.

It was lovely and sunny Outback today which could be why M Kaz came out with me and watched a Tubi movie “Continental Split”. She seemed to enjoy it. She didn’t go to the real movies – there is a movie she wants to see but she’s too scared to go by herself. M Sooz has offered to go with her but M Kaz has said no, suggesting it could be akin to “a steaming pile of donkey-doo” – which was how M Sooz described another movie she had volunteered to go and see with M Kaz years ago now. Maybe this one won’t be as gruesome but M Kaz she’s not prepared to take the risk on M Sooz’s behalf. An has offered to go with M Kaz when she comes back from holidays in a week or so.  It will be interesting to see if M Kaz can hold out until then.

Thursday (27 June 2024)

Let’s see if they go through with it – the “it” would be locking me out of the bedroom at night so I don’t try to wake M Kaz so she will come play or feed me in the wee small hours of the morning or so I don’t sleep on top of M Sooz and, in her words, “wreck my hip”.  There’s just no pleasing those two sometimes.  I don’t really think it will happen though – and if it does you can be sure that I will be the one scratching on the bedroom door until they let me in.  And if that doesn’t work, I’ll just have to find other ways of getting them to open the door – if they go through with it.

M Kaz really is a weakling.  I’ve just watch her trying to lift the door that Uncle Wayne replaced on the garage – and she could hardly do it.  She ended up lifting one end and dragging it along the grass.  Yes, I watched her try to drag it on its side first off but it kept getting snagged on the grass when she did.  At least she thought of a way of getting it done.  I don’t know how she thinks she’s going to be able to manage lifting and moving things while she and M Sooz are overseas later in the year.  (Yes, you Mothers, I do know about that!)  I know she is practicing with my 10kg bags of cat litter – and the box with two bags of litter in it – but I’m not sure that’s going to be enough.  Ah well, both the Mummies are a bit older so there might be folk who offer to help them – and not just so they can scam them out of money although there will probably be people trying to do that too!

It rained really heavily this evening and there was thunder and lightning too.  Luckily there was no hail otherwise M Kaz would have been going out to check on Ravi – and I do mean just checking because before they had the shade sail installed she would have been out there throwing herself over the car to protect it – but there’s no need for that now, and certainly not this evening.

I had a friend come in to play with me today – a dinosaur which M Sooz found under the scales when she came in to see what I was staring intently at in the corner of her bathroom. I wonder if she thought it was a Cecil – I think she did because I think that’s what she was saying to Aunty M when she cane around this afternoon.  There was some suggestion that they wouldn’t but they did end up watching another couple of episodes of “Derry Girls”.  After Aunty M went home of course the Mummies watched more Inspector Barnaby.

Wednesday (26 June 2024)

It’s still cold here at Jannie and I’m still sleeping in with those Mummies. I sometimes sleep on M Sooz’s bed and sometimes on M Kaz’s – just depends on how l’m feeling, how cold it is and who’s taking up the most room – because I really do like to spread out while I sleep.

Aunty M came over the other evening and they were all a bit sad because they were watching the last episode of the Madame Blane Mysteries-for the moment anyway. There is talk of another season but as production hasn’t yet started, it’s going to be a while before it comes out. So, they’ve had to find a new series they can all watch together – and they have. They’re watching ‘Derry Girls’ and even though it’s set in Ireland during ‘The Troubles’, it is very funny. They have watched the first three episodes already – and I can’t wait for them to watch some more.

Well, I think I’m winning. She still doesn’t want me up with the television and, of course, since that’s the very spot she doesn’t want me to be, that’s exactly where I do want to be. Yes, she still had the spray bottle but it still isn’t working that well (heh heh) – and no, there’s no sign of a new spray bottle – or a water pistol or Super Soaker. (Don’t you take any notice of that M Kaz!)

M Kaz is pretending she is decluttering her office but I can’t see any evidence of that at all. And she still hasn’t put those other cube shelves together either. I think someone other than her needs to start supervising her to-do list and activities.

Friday (21 June 2024)

What on earth is that smell the Mummies brought home with them this evening?  There was pizza in there, and some milk drinks (yech) and something else.  I couldn’t quite work out what it was and then M Sooz told me it was Syl and An’s furry ones – Tilly and Blue.  They’d gone to dinner at their place and then watched a movie.  That explains why they weren’t home until after 10 – that and they stopped at Maccas on the way home to get something cold – and then they went down to the Broadwater to have it.  I suspect it was also so I didn’t insist that they give me some – which I often do if they have something yummy – although does Maccas fit that description?  M Kaz really wanted to go because Maccas is having a promotion – as a tie-in with the launch of the ‘Despicable Me 4’ movie, where Banana Shakes are available.  Did she like it – she wasn’t sure enough to commit to having another one.  And M Sooz is sure she still doesn’t like their chocolate shakes.  Just as well M Kaz had a can of something else in the car for her as they sat and watched the lights change over at the Marina Mirage.

It was the shortest day of the year and M Kaz was down at the Broadwater taking photographs atdawn (again).  She has to thank me for getting her up so early – but she never does.
