Noooooooo …

The only good thing about the Mummies disappearing is that Aunty M comes to see me.  She is wonderful – although I think she misunderstands it when I talk with her.  She told the Mummies that each time she came to see me over the weekend, I was standing at the window and screaming at her … and that isn’t exactly correct … I was screaming at her, yes, but it was screams of delight that she would come to see me, and to feed me, and to empty my litter tray.  You’d be silly not to be thankful for any one of those things … but Aunty M does them all! Thank you Aunty M!

So yes, that does mean the Mummies were away for the weekend … again!  I did know something was up when M Kaz called Aunty Rosemary the other week – I’ve known her long enough now to know that M Kaz isn’t a “talker-on-the-phone-for-no-reason” so that could only mean they were trying to book me in for an Aunty Rosemary holiday.  But it was not to be.  M Kaz had been too quick to get my annual vaccination done and that meant they would need to wait two full weeks before Aunty Rosemary could take me … so that meant their three-nights away had to be shortened to just two – which then meant that M Kaz wouldn’t be able to go to the Zoo with her sister (my first mother when my name was Denile).  But they will go another time – it just means that the baby zebras (or was that giraffes?) will not be babies any more.  Maybe they will have newer, better babies.

It’s not very nice when you crow M Kaz.  Aunty A came today to help them with their cleaning and while she was here the Mummies were telling Aunty A about the buses – and why it is that we have two – one a little prettier than the other.  If you remember, that was the one that Elly (the KMart shopper-lady) put together … and then her cat didn’t like it, so M Kaz bought it from her.  All the while M Kaz was saying that Elly’s might look pretty but because she knows I like to sit on the roof of my vehicles – or caravans, or beach houses – she said she had reinforced the entire bus with tape so it would still be standing after I’d been sitting.  And we found out today that she was right!  The pretty bus roof collapsed while I was on it … it was lucky I didn’t get injured.  Of course, you know what M Kaz did as soon as she saw what had happened … no, it wasn’t to rush over to  help me out (I was a bit wedged in there) … she went to get her phone so she could take a photo!  I know M Sooz would have rushed over to help me … and she was going to but M Kaz asked her not to until after she had taken the photo!  I’m glad she did because it does show the danger of form over content!  We should all learn to trust M Kaz a little more … says M Kaz!

See … still good!

Oops …

Hmmm .. what did I say about Elly’s bus being better than yours M Kaz. There was a bit of a whoopsy with the roof … but it’s bounced right back!

The Bus … the bus!

You thought I’d just wandered away didn’t you M Kaz but someone should have been yelling “She’s behind you, she’s behind you” – and that way you wouldn’t have almost rolled on to me when you got back into bed this morning. What’s that? I should have been on my blanket and out of the way? Well, you could have taken a little more care when you were building my bus!

Yes, of course I’m grateful that you bought it for me but if any of my friends see it I’m going to be a laughing stock. What? Then I shouldn’t have posted it on FaceBook. You know my friends aren’t on Facebook and I only posted it so your friends would see what a job you’d done. Afterall, you are supposed to be the conscientious one – not the one who turns in projects looking like a dog’s breakfast! All right, maybe it is okay but compared to the one Elly built, it is a bit sad – even you have to admit that. Thank goodness for Elly otherwise we really wouldn’t have believed it could look like the picture on the box.

So who’s this Elly you had build my bus? You’ve never mentioned her before. Where did you meet her? What’s the story? (Pauses for long-winded explanation from M Kaz.) So you’re telling me you found Elly in the cat toy aisle at KMart and she was trying to decide what to buy her 8-year-old lives-inside cat (whose name you neglected to ask or remember) and when you said you were getting me the bus she thought she would too and (very very long story short) you said if her cat didn’t like it once it was assembled, you would buy it off her. What a cunning and devious way to have Elly build it. I hope you at least offered to pay her for her time. No? Well some flowers or something might be the go M Kaz – or a lotto ticket! Or maybe a little treat for our newest friend No-Name!

To the V-E-T

Is it really so hard to warm a stethoscope before they pop it onto your chest? Those things are really cold and even though I have fur, it’s no fun. Yes, you guessed it, I was at the V-E-T this morning (yes, Mummies, I can spell that) – it was all a bit of a surprise really. One minute I was asleep on the bed and the next M Sooz was patting me and then M Kaz was scooping me up … and then they were putting me in my carry cage. I didn’t even have time to get my extra legs out before they had me in there – you know how I like to make it as difficult for them as I can!

Even though I had one of the first appointments this morning, there were about 5 other furries who did as well – and, you know, I don’t think they had six vets on so M Kaz and I had a little wait before we were seen. I wasn’t there for my nails this time … it was so they could give me an injection the size of a … well, it was pretty big. The V-E-T said I would probably be a bit quieter and sleep a bit over the next 24-48 hours, so I will do what I can to make sure she’s right.

I showed M Kaz a new trick today. When it was time to leave the V-E-T, I was on the consulting table – and yes, they did weigh me – 5.4 kg, and yes, my teeth are good, and yes I still have my heart murmur – and the V-E-T just put my cage to the edge of the table, and I just stepped into it – no fuss, no bother. I’d like to see the Mummies try to get me to do that at home – and don’t think they won’t give it a try next time.
