Sunday

I am a bit worried about Aunty M at the moment … the Mummies have been off to see her twice in the last couple of days – at the Hospital. I don’t think they are too concerned although M Sooz was saying that it has stirred her up a little bit because she doesn’t think of Aunty M as ever getting sick. So, what’s the problem? They won’t tell me because they don’t want me to get all worried too … but the good news is that Aunty M will probably be going home tomorrow (I heard them talking about it).

Me, thinking about the Mummies going away and leaving me home alone!

I missed the Mummies while they were away on Friday night. They were in Warwick (something about some Jumpers & Jazz) and then visiting the family in Toowoomba. They decided not to take me to Aunty Rosemary’s this time because they were only going to be away for the one night – not that they would have had a chance to get me to Aunty Rosemary’s because as soon as I saw they had the bags out and that M Kaz was packing her sleep machine I was under their bed and there was no chance they were ever going to get me out from under there. It didn’t care how much M Kaz called out to me as they were leaving so she “could see me”, I didn’t come out.

Monday

M Kaz and I spent some time out in the yard this morning after she’d been down to the Broadwater doing her sunrise photographs (and talking with the other Dawn People), editing them (the photos not the people), futzing around in the office (don’t know what she was up to in there because she locked me out again!), having her breakfast (yuck … Porridge) and stacking and turning on the dishwasher.

It was sunny out there and M Kaz just sat and soaked up the sunshine as she watched me. I looked for Lennie and, again, I couldn’t find them. I hope they’re doing that thing snakes do for the Winter – brumation – and that they’re okay. I worry that there are so many birds about and all of them look as though they could use a good feed! Lennie looks so tasty! Or did the last time I saw them. And while we’re doing the friend check, I haven’t seen Kermie for ages – and it’s certainly wet enough for him to be about. It’s so wet and waterlogged out the front that the Mummies now have a pond near the driveway. I wonder if they will get down to the NBN “stuff” before M Kaz gets the sand to fill the hole in. There is just so much else M Kaz would prefer to be doing – and some of it is even constructive! Watch this space! There might even be some potted plants and fixed border edging in a moment!

While we were out in the yard there was an annoying high-pitched noise – getting louder, then softer and louder again. M Kaz finally decided – and she was right – that someone was flying a something over in the reserve – and over the houses backing on to it, ours included. She picked it – it was a model plane doing circuits, although in keeping with the noise it made, it should have been a big mosquito.

Uggggg

What a way to start a Thursday! First I was evicted from the bedroom just after 5 am. That was okay though because I made a “nest” for myself in the second bedroom in the electric blanket (not turned on) and I was quite cosy there until those Mothers woke up and scooped me up and put me in my cat cage – but not before I’d put myself under the bed for a bit – and I probably would still have been there had M Kaz not opened the front door like we were going out – and I suppose we were going out – just not out into the yard for a wander. The cat cage … hmmm. That meant either Aunty Rosemary or … the Vet. And, yes, it was the Vet … Dr Caroline … and no she did not warm up the stethoscope first. But, to be fair, she didn’t take my temperature either so I was happy with that. No surprise that I still have my heart murmur and Dr Caroline said it is “impressive”. If we get worried about it, there are two courses of action – they can get the cardiologist in to take a look, or we can get an ultrasound to see what’s happening. In the short term, we’re good – as long as my sleeping respiration rate is less than 30 per minute we don’t need to be concerned. M Kaz keeps an eye on me, so we’ll know when it’s time to worry – she’s very good at worrying.
The real reason for the visit to the Vet was so I could have my nails done – finally. I’m sick of M Kaz think I’m trying to rip her leg to shreds when I’m kissing and cuddling her – it’s not my fault they let my nails get so long – and no, it’s not my fault that I was all – what was the word? – Hissy – when they tried (and failed) to do my nails when I was at Aunty Rosemary’s last time. But it’s done now – and the bonus is that I can go back to “stealth mode” because with my nails done, they can’t tell where I am in the house – except for when I’m dragging stringey thing – they know then!

Topper

Those Mummies have been buying things for us again – this time it’s a little something for the bedroom – alright, it’s a big something for the bedroom!   It’s for the bed and they are calling it a Topper even though it seems to go on the mattress so it really could be called a Bottom – but maybe it wouldn’t sell as well it was called that.  As I said, it’s really big and the Mummies weren’t sure they were going to be able to get it out of its bag and onto the bed, so they asked Aunty M if she could come over and help.  I was very happy they did and that she said yes, because I hadn’t seen Aunty M all week.  Usually she comes on a Thursday morning to see me but she didn’t this week because M Kaz drove M Sooz to where they were all having breakfast.
I miss Aunty M and the stories about my friend MiMi when she doesn’t come around.  MiMi has a new harness – she lost the other one somewhere … they know not where … because MiMi is allowed to wander further afield – and by herself – than I could possibly imagine.  She visits someone called Christine who lives a couple of yards away from them.  And Mimi gets to go down to the pier at the river.  And all I do is get to sit in my green thing in the windows and wait until M Kaz deigns to take me outside – and even then she keeps a tight hold of the retractable lead so if I even look like I’m thinking about making a run for it, she reels me back in.

So I enjoyed it while Aunty M was here … and I’m sorry she didn’t see my trick when I climbed into the bag from the Topper/Bottom and when I was helping those Mummies make the bed.  It’s one of my special skills … bedmaking!
