Stardenburdenhardenbart

I don’t know why they don’t want me to look after the Christmas accoutrements (that’s tinsel and stuff for anyone else who doesn’t know French – I had to look it up – learning a new language is part of my New Year’s resolutions … I’m just not sure which one yet).

I helped Kaz take them down yesterday because the Christmas dinge (German: things) has to come down on 12th Night or bad things could happen.

Given that they didn’t want to put a real Tannenbaum up again this year because there was a chance I would try to hug it (or try to chew on the electric cable) like last year … or was that the year before? … they didn’t do too bad a job decorating with tinsel and the new me-friendly trees from Aldi. I am going to watch where they put the şeyler (Turkish) though because I might be able to get them out again while they’re not looking … or when they’re out and about.  That would be fun.  That would really work:  Stardenburdenhardenbart indeed.

Cat’s in the cradle

It is so nice to be home.  I have been having a wonderful time rediscovering all my favourite sleeping spots – and another one I haven’t been in for a while – probably because the Mummies have had it hidden behind the door for a while.

I have been trying to keep them entertained as well … just so the Mummies don’t get the idea they can ship me off to Aunty Rosemary’s.  They haven’t said that they’re planning to go anywhere – but like this last time, they might be making plans while they are out of the house – so I don’t know.

I don’t know what it is with them but they keep buying fans and bringing them into the house.  One is called the Vornado and it’s designed to cool the whole room.  When Kaz brought it home she told Sooz that the salesperson told her it would work “really well” – and I heard Sooz say this morning that it works better than the air conditioning and the fan put together. I think Kaz really likes it because it can be pointed directly at Sooz so she gets the blast of cool air – while just giving a cooler room to Kaz.  Those two are just so different!
