I don’t like you very much …

It’s not fair. They bought that new Christmas Tree and then they put it so I can’t reach it. What on Earth are they playing at? But they underestimate me – and they should know better than that! I managed to rescue Santa and a reindeer from where they were stuck to the wall (on the tree) – and the Merry Christmas sign. I’ve put Santa somewhere safe for the minute to rest, because he’s got a big job coming up in a bit. Hmmm … maybe they’re not as not on to me as I thought.

They had an advent calendar here overnight that they’d borrowed from their mate P. It was very intricate, wooden and looked quite special – and that’s before you consider the bag it came in … and the special packing it was wrapped in  … and OMGoodness, the whole thing smelled like … other cats.  Their scent has been here before … on Uncle Wayne when  he went off to do those jobs for P a while back and he came back in the throes of terrible allergies.  Poor Uncle Wayne.  I wonder if he’s going to be coming back this way soon.  Hmmmm.

There were fireworks close by last night but they weren’t nearly as exciting as the huge thunderstorm that rolled through almost straightaway afterwards. There was an almighty crack quite early in the storm and Kaz and S were talking about it this morning and it appears a house in Labrador was hit by lightning in the strike. Kaz would know more but she no longer subscribes to the Gold Coast Bulletin so she can’t access their site any more.

But what they have managed to access is a new Christmas Tree which they assembled this afternoon – if you call “assembled” sticking things on a felt board … ahem … Christmas Tree. They’ve also dragged Olaf and the Reindeer out from wherever they’ve been. I can’t believe how good it looks – bright, green, colourful. Mummy sooz seems to love it as much as I do.

The little roadies (aka toads) are still plentiful out in the yard. I wonder if this means we’re in for even more rain. Hopefully it dries out soon because I’d like Kaz to take me outside again.

It was really hard not to laugh this afternoon. Kaz was cleaning out a shelf in the pantry and she was too short to reach up there to wipe it down properly so she pulled out the plastic step that’s been in beside the fridge since I arrived. Listening to Kaz after ”the incident”, she thinks they’ve had it since they lived at Marrickville (well before my time) – some 15 years at least. I hate to be the one to say this but I think Kaz may have been a bit lighter then because when she stood on it (the second time) today, it just died, collapsed, crushed beneath her feet. She was a tad surprised because she was so busy concentrating on her cleaning at the time. She knocked her arm on the way down – and both Sooz and Kaz think it will bruise nicely but … and this is the amazing thing … Kaz stayed on her feet when she dropped to the ground. Good job Mummy!

Where are you Elfie?

There’s no doubt about it… someone has really  fallen down on the job here. It’s the 3rd of December already and I haven’t seen The Elf On The Shelf make an appearance yet! Yes, yes, I know they (the Mummies) are up to No. 8 in their series of candid Christmas photographs featuring Mummy Sooz … but really, we see her all the time and that poor little Elf is only allowed out in December… and only until the 24th or is that the 25th.  He’s like the Advent(ure) Elf.

The Mummies have really been getting their teeth into their current project!

The Mummies are starting to get busier now that Christmas is coming and they keep leaving me at home alone far too much … although come later in the month… even though they think I haven’t been listening … I know someone’s off to see Aunty Rosemary.  I really hope it isn’t me! Seriously, I was only there a minute ago!

Oops… I hope the Mummies don’t see this one… or maybe I hope they do, so they can see I can’t be trusted to be left home alone!

I’m hoping I am going to be one of the lucky four going on the Christmas Lights Canal Cruise next week.  That would be so much fun.  The Mummies have already been out looking at Christmas Lights. They were so late back from Trivia the other night because they went touring the neighbourhood looking for lights – down by the waterfront, over near the school, even as far afield as Main Beach.  Don’t mind me, I told them when they finally made it back, I’m just the cat and it’s not I’d like some company … other than More…eese.  (Did I mention I’m thinking about reinstituting an ArchNemesis… everyone who keeps singing that bl**dy Jingle Bells song, put your antler up … yes, More…eese – you know who you are!)

Keeping a close eye on More…ese
