Sunday …

Another busy Saturday night …

I watched as Kaz mowed the lawn out the front this afternoon … I would like to say she did a great job but she did miss a couple of patches … and that was just the bit of lawn that I could see.  She did the lawn right out the front as well, and hopefully she did a better job there because we know that the neighbours can see that lot.

And then, because she was out in the yard, she also took the garden shears to the Frangipani – in the courtyard and then out the front section as well.  I think she wanted to do it today because she could put the branches in the rubbish … they have enough Frangipani already, so she didn’t want to plant the cuttings.

Lemon tree … very pretty.

And then, after she had done the yard work, I let her pop me into the harness and we went out into the yard for a while.  Who knew there was a lemon tree out there?  It’s lovely … very pretty … and I bet the lemon flowers when they come are going to be sweet!  It came from Aunty M and she’s going to come back at some point to repot it or plant it or something like that … I wasn’t listening closely enough at the time.

And did someone say “snake”?  Kaz is still going on about the one she (thought she) saw the other night.  To hear her tell the story – and she has been – it was knocking at the window asking to be let in. I think it was just passing by – like they always do – and Kaz just happened to see it.  She really is such a drama queen!

Sooz has been a bit low-key since her Mummy crossed the Rainbow Bridge a couple of weeks ago … it was lovely to hear her going through the words she was going to say at her farewell – and really easy to see where Sooz’s love of furry folk came from.

Interlopers …

I don’t know what the neighbourhood is coming to. Last night I came out for a cookie snack and Kaz had started to tell me something when Sooz walked in to the kitchen and Kaz went quiet. Well that really piqued my interest. But when Kaz finally agreed to finish what she’d been saying, I wished I’d run from the room screaming … before she told us. Kaz is fairly certain she saw a snake outside the kitchen window. A snake! I’ll say that again slowly…a snake! She wouldn’t let Kaz or I go out to check so we’re hoping it’s made its way out of the yard by now.
Chances are it has moved on because tonight after they came home from Trivia, Sooz was in the bedroom and she called out to Kaz to “come look”. By the time Kaz got there the black cat Sooz had seen on the back deck was out of sight. If it had still been on the back deck (and chances are it wouldn’t have been there at all had the snake still been around) it would have high-tailed it out of there as soon as Kaz “snuck” into the ensuite – stepping onto the scales and into the rubbish bin. It made a huge racket! While she was doing that I was zooming up and down the house looking out all the windows trying to catch a glimpse of the interloper. The cheek of it! Everyone in the area knows this is Nigey’s house! But what if it’s lost or has nowhere to live? How would we know? I wonder how long it will be before it comes back.

Nigey (that would be me) on patrol.

Settling back in …

Me … on the bed with one of my close (soulful) friends.

Well, it’s wonderful to be settled back in at home again, and to be eating my food (or not eating it as the case may be) and using my own litter tray.  These are the things that make life worth living.  That and being able to get out into the front yard – that hasn’t happened yet but there’s always tomorrow.

I slept on the Mummies’ bed for part of last night – it was good to be back there… although it would be better if they didn’t move their feet around quite so much.  They can’t help it of course. Sooz didn’t even realise I was there until after she’d gotten up and was on her way back to bed. That was way after Kaz had left to go down to the Broadwater with her camera.  When she came back, she had two cups of coffee with her … the only thing was that neither of them was for me.

Aunty M and her Mouse Mummy!

They went out and left me alone for a big part of the day.  They went out with Aunty M and her mother (Mouse) and other friends and a big part of The Markets Group, to celebrate Mouse’s 96th Birthday!  They went to a seafood restaurant and it must have been that neither of my Mummies had fish because word is that Aunty M took left-over fish home to Mimi. I’m happy for her of course, but just once I would like to have fish that didn’t come out of a can, or a pouch, or a fry pan … oh wait, out of a fry pan, or oven or something like that would be good.

Home again … yippee!

Goodness me … I thought Sooz and Kaz loved me … but what did they just do? They left me with Aunty Rosemary for FOUR nights while they went off gallivanting!  Leave me at home and Aunty M will come look after me I beseeched them … I was even down on my hands and knees … but no, they still took me to Aunty Rosemary anyway.  I do understand why they did it… they didn’t want to have to worry about me while they were away … and they were fairly sure that Aunty Rosemary and her helpers would not tie me to the roof and throw rocks at me – but it was touch and go for a moment there.  Who knew they didn’t like being hissed at!  What’s that? No-one does?

But phew I’m home now … but not without a surprise stop along the way back from Aunty Rosemary’s.  I am going to have to have a word with Aunty M because I believe this was her idea – take Nigey to the vet on the way back from Aunty Rosemary’s … she said … it will be fun she said – not for me (Nigey) … but for Kaz who is the one who has to get me and my 27 legs into the cage each time they force me to go somewhere!

I’d like to say it was fun being away from home for a holiday – but it really isn’t much of a holiday without them.  It would be good if one day we could all go on holiday together… maybe if they could get a van like Uncle Wayne.  That’s why they were away of course. They went up to Toowoomba to see Uncle Wayne off … he’s finally kitted out his caravan the way he likes it and he’s driven off … without me I might add!
