New ArchNemesises

I have a new ArchNemesis … actually two of them.  They are Lackie and Ollie and they live with Pe – and yesterday when Uncle Wayne went over to theirs to help their mother with some jobs, they attacked him and made him sick!  His face was all red and swollen on one side and he was having trouble breathing by the time he arrived back here.  He looked as though he’d gone at least three rounds with each of them … but as it turned out, they hadn’t touched him.  He was having a sinus attack brought on by his close proximity to those other cats – and this was a bit surprising  because he’d taken a cat allergy pill in preparation of seeing them.  Hmmm … poor him …. it hadn’t worked.  When he arrived home he had a big shower to wash every bit of fur or dust or whatever off him.  He then did something to make his nose clean, shiny and bright.  And then he just took it easy for the rest of the day – although there wasn’t much of it – they didn’t get home until after 3.30.

Comforting Uncle Wayne after the “Attack of the Black Cats”

Even if he hadn’t done a lot of jobs over at Lackie and Ollie’s, the cat attacks had taken their toll.  He tried to stay up late but he couldn’t and he was off to bed by 8:30pm.  I sat at his door and let him know I was there for anything he needed … but he didn’t come out again until just after midnight.  I know this because I overheard Kaz telling Sooz this morning – she was the only one who was still up – watching a very long (and in some places very loud) movie on my new mega large and slightly huge television which they brought home with them from Lackie & Ollie’s – because Pene said they could.

Me with the BIG television. (Not sure where Homer and Emma of the Sideboard are now.)

Uncle Wayne

Putting my toys away before the visit.

Of course Uncle Wayne likes me and wants me to keep watch over him while he sleeps at night!  But this is really hard to do when he has me locked out of “my” bedroom – which the Mummies are letting him use while he visits us.  He seems nice enough – and of course he has been to visit before … you remember him, he’s the one with the squisher bottle which he isn’t afraid to wave around near me … as if he’s going to use it, but he never does.

Me … supervising Uncle Wayne working on the oven shelf.

He spends a bit of time outside – and the least he could do is take me with him! We’d both like that I think. I could talk with him while he’s outside, and see if I could catch some little tidbits to share with him. I caught a lizard today while Kaz had me out there. It looked as though it would be have been a bit tasty too, except I was a little distracted watching Uncle Wayne doing what he was doing – something to do with numbers I think he said – it was to work his brain or something like that. He was doing it inside tonight as well – and he said it was much easier to do if he was actually concentrating on what he was doing rather than watching television at the same time. He gave Kaz a go at doing one too, and she was working really really hard to make sure she finished it before he did. I’m not saying that she is competitive … but everyone else would.

Testing out Uncle Wayne’s bed.

Did you know that some people are allergic to cats? Well, apparently Uncle Wayne is but I am doing what I can to help him. When he got up today … and finally opened the door to “our” bedroom, I wandered in and settled into the spot on the bed he had just vacated … right up against the pillow. It was lovely and warm. And, amazingly, it was still fairly warm when I went back later in the day – but not so warm that I didn’t get in under the sheet and blanket. I don’t know why the Mummies were so shocked that I had done that … it’s not as though I have never done it before … oh, wait … I haven’t. So, what is it about Uncle Wayne? I’m not sure but I can’t think about that now because I can hear him walking up the hall and I want to go and dive under his bed before he can lock me out of our room.

Me … getting ready to blog.

Thank you Aunty M

Can you believe they went away and left me home alone for the weekend. Yes, yes, part of me was happy to see them packing on Friday morning because I know what that means – once I haven’t had them trying to load me into the cat box and take me to Aunty Rosemary. It means that Aunty M is going to come and see me! And she did! She is so amazing especially as she is the one who told Kaz and Sooz not to send me to Aunty Rosemary’s this time because she said I would be much happier at home – and she was right.

Me … keeping watch while the Mummies were away …

She was over again this morning to pick up Sooz to take her off to breakfast … and as she talked to me through the screen door she told me that she had forgotten to bring me my present. Poor Aunty M. It sounds as though she’s a bit busy at the moment – otherwise there is no way she would have forgotten.

Checking out the new Toaster box …

Sooz and Kaz bought themselves a new toaster yesterday … and they gave me the box. It’s not as big as the box the microwave came in, but it’s still a box … and everyone knows I love boxes. Almost as much as I love helping Kaz and Sooz make the bed – or sleeping on the bed once it’s made.

Looking after the bed for the Mummies …

Reading time …

The Mummies had a very quiet day at home today – they didn’t even go out early this morning like they normally do – they say it’s so they can go for a walk at the Broadwater but I know that’s it’s really so they can have coffee. So, not even that this morning though – Kaz did get up and have a shower, and then went straight into the office with Ollie Tedesco and didn’t come out for hours and hours. She was fairly happy when she came out too – she kept saying she’d submitted her last assignment for this intake. That’s good because maybe we’ll get to see her a bit more around the place (read: out of her office). Let’s hope so too because I miss her – well, having kisses and cuddles with her legs – do you know she locks herself in the office while she’s busy studying which means I can’t get in there … not even to help her. And we all know she needs help sometimes. And no, no-one said: and lots of it!

No, no … she’s not out there.

The other Mummy has been reading books from the library again (or still) – she found lots of them while she was looking for just one by a Japanese author. She’s always singing the praises of that Library. I’m sure they’d have books about cats. I wouldn’t know because the Mummies won’t even let me look. I know other Mummies read to their fur babies – so why don’t mine ever read to me? I bet Aunty M reads to Mimi. I wonder what books she likes: fishy ones like Moby Dick? Or adventure ones? Oh … oh, I know – murder mysteries by Louise Penny. Hmmm. I wonder what my Mummies are doing now.
