King of the caravans…

Just as well Mummy Kaz did a good job of sticking my caravan back together … but she’d better start looking for that tape again… at this rate we are going to need it soon!

Scarper? Me?

Well can you believe that Kaz finally took me outside again? It has been ages since I’ve been out in the yard and that’s through no fault of my own. Any time they open the door I’m there … and I even managed to get out a couple of times with Sooz but she just scoops me up and pops me back inside. Why is it so difficult when Kaz comes out to get me? She panics so much … and I don’t know why that is. Is she expecting me to scarper? Take off over or under the fence? Not likely – have you seen how high that fence is … and maybe when I was a kitten I could have shimmied under the fence but that ship/cat has sailed!

Me … outside …

But it was nice outside … eating a smorgasbord of grasses, looking at the birds, and even searching out lizards in that garden with all the weeds in it! I almost got one too – a lizard that is … there are so many weeds I had no trouble catching one of those! And I wouldn’t be scarpering off anyway … I know where my cookies come from! And yes the new lovely ones (which are as stinky as they are yummy) do come from Aunty M and we have to let her know I am out of them so she can bring me some of them the next time she brings Kaz and Sooz some of their cookies.

Mimi

Sooz and Kaz seem to have been spending lots of time with other cats of late … I know they saw my ArchNemesis Mimi the other night when they went out for dinner for Mother’s Day with Aunty M and her mother … how could I tell?  They stank of Mimi … but, and this is probably the real reason, Kaz had photos of Mimi on her phone.  Yes, there is no denying she is pretty … but that doesn’t mean she is cuter than I am!   And okay, she doesn’t really stink just because I think she is a stinker!

Tara and Dzambo

They’ve also been hanging out with Tara and Dzambo … remember Dzambo … he has stayed here a couple of times now – the first time before I came, the second time while his mother was overseas for a week.  I don’t think he and I got along all that well … but he did bring his cat tower (that’s where they got the idea to get me one) and all his toys … he had nearly as many toys as I do.  Of course, there are photos of us playing together … kind of … but there was also a lot of hissing as I recall.  He wasn’t much fun either sometimes because he spent a lot of time under the couch.  But, I digress, so Sooz and Kaz have been dropping in to see So and the cats most nights because Tara is not well and needs to be given antibiotic injections … so they help with that.  Sooz holds Tara while So gives the injection, and I think Kaz is holding Tara’s head so she can cover her eyes so she can’t see the needle … because it is HUGE.  So when they come home they carry the undeniable odour of others and I’m trying not to get too jealous because I know from what they say that So, Tara and Dzambo really do need and appreciate the help.

Fingers crossed that Tara keeps improving with the antibiotics.

Catfishing …

Lock me out of the bedroom will they?  Well, first they have to catch me.  Yes, that’s right, the Mummies thought they were smarter than I am, but they are wrong.  All I have to do is get under the bed and they have no way of getting me out … except with ruses, subterfuge, chicanery and down-right trickery … yes, that’s you we’re talking about Kaz.  I’m surprised they hadn’t twigged sooner … while they’re out watching television now, when I know it’s almost time for them to take over the bedroom again, I just put myself under the bed … and sometimes they don’t even know that I’m there … and they go looking around the house for me … so they can make sure I am on the “other side of the door” when they shut it.  I decided, though, that that isn’t fun enough so now I wait until Kaz starts bringing her things into the bedroom (yes, we know there are too many electronics living in the bedroom as it is, but they won’t be told!) and then, when I’m sure she’s seen me – I’m usually just hanging out at the en suite door, half on the tiles, half on the carpet – I just slip under the bed, making sure to leave my tail out so she really can’t miss it.  Once I know she has seen me – she usually says a swear word because she’s worked out what’s happening – I just go all the way under.  And stay there … and stay there … and stay there a little longer.  Of course, they pretend not to notice and go about their usual stuff … the Sydney Morning Herald Trivia questions or name that tune or talking (they really don’t have that big a repertoire) and I just wait and listen and take a little nap … until I hear the thwap thwap thwap of the stringey thing hitting the floor on either side of the bed, and on the bed, and in and around the box near the bed.  Kaz thinks she can lure me out with it … I think she calls it “catfishing” … she really has no idea of modern language – although I suppose it is a little like “the process of luring someone into a relationship by means of a fictional online persona” except she’s pretending to be someone who wants to have a stringey-thing game with me.  To be fair though she actually does appear to be a softie because last night when I finally came out from under the bed, she actually did start having a proper game of stringey-thing with me rather than scooping me up and taking me outside.  Sucked in!  When it looked as though she’d had enough of the game, I put myself under the bed again.  Thwap.  Thwap.  Thwap.  If I hadn’t been distracted by them talking about the helicopter doing low passes over the neighbourhood I’d probaby (read: definitely) still be under the bed but I forgot just for a moment and this time Kaz did scoop me up and pop me out to the living room (before walking very quickly back to the bedroom to close the door because she knows I can run faster than she can!).

The 4H … Kaz keeps trying to get me into it but I keep saying no … so I have to keep trying to escape if I want to go outside.
