Can you believe it? Sooz and Kaz were quite happily hooking into lady fingers the other night. They had collected them from Aunty M who brought them (and a whole lot of other strange looking stuff) back with her from a place in Sydney (wherever that is) called Adbul’s. Sooz and Kaz raved about it, that M had done it for them – and how much there was of it – and the green and beige stuff – hummus and tabouli. I wasn’t so sure about the lady fingers: I’d need to know a bit more about them and which lady (or ladies) they had belonged to first!
Otherwise it’s been fairly uneventful here – especially as they have been more careful about not letting me out into the yard. I tried to get out there the other day to see what Kaz was doing with those huge scissors and the frangipani – and why was she cutting branches off them and where was she taking them? And who else thinks those huge scissors would be just the thing for cutting lady fingers with? Kaz had best be careful with them because we all saw how sharp they are. And why was she using a squishy bottle like she uses with me (doesn’t work!) on those plants – you know, the ones that have, against all odds, managed to grow up between the pavers and along the concrete seams? What have they done that’s so wrong that they need to get squished Kaz … tell me that!? Hmm maybe she was doing something nice for them – like giving then a spray to cool them down; she doesn’t need to give them drinks because it has been raining a bit here. Whatever she did with them and this “gardening” hasn’t helped them though because some of them don’t look at all well!
It was Kaz’s birthday on Monday and she says she is going to share one of her presents with me. I had a look at it and I’m not quite sure how she’s going to make all the bits and pieces (there are HEAPS of them) look like the picture on the box. I’m sure she’ll want me to help her … and I’m not sure those huge scissors are going to cut it here – Kaz is talking about going to a craft store (maybe electronics) to get some snips and other “bits and pieces” which seems odd given how many are already in that box!
