What’s up … ?

I really am not going to play with them if they keep using that darn squishy bottle. I’ve really only seen it once before now, when Wayne came to visit a couple of months back but now it lives in the bedroom and as soon as I even look at the bedside tables either Sooz or Kaz whips it out, points it at me and shakes it so I can hear the water slosh.  Scary?  They wish!  but I am way tougher than that … and they know that now . In a way that’s not a good thing because they have overcome their reluctance to squirt water at me.  Why can’t I be like Aunty M’s MiMi?  Wait … who said that?  Yes it was me .. Aunty M was telling my humans (and others) at breakfast the other day that she saw where a cat just like MiMi loves water … and even goes swimming at the beach.  Can you imagine that?  A cat loving water … or is that a water-loving cat?  Yeah … okay … but does it like getting squirted with it?

Me posing with my new box!

Yippee!  A touch of redemption for them … Sooz and Kaz bought me a new box today and I love it! It is huge … and inside it there was another big black box!  I love that one too – although Kaz keeps saying that I have to stay away from it because it will get hot once she starts using it.  Sure … like that’s going to happen.  Can you imagine? Kaz cooking?  I’ve been here over a year and it’s happened maybe a dozen times … or maybe a few more than than … but not a lot.

… and me with the black box!

But she seems enthused by this new box – a, no the Smart Oven TM Air Fryer by Breville.  I will say though that she had been using the other Air Fryer – and she kept saying it was too small for what she wanted to do. So, stay tuned for … the cooking report.

Yoda, me and a flanny!

Sooz and Kaz went shopping for some flannelette (flanny) shirts for me the other day, and they are fantastic.  Sooz put one of hers on the couch for me this evening and I dropped off straight to sleep – they thought it was because it was because it was so warm and cuddly but really it was because I’d had enough of MasterChef for one evening!
But speaking of MasterChef, Aunty M was over yesterday and she tricked out some grapes to make them look like mice!  Wow! Will be interesting to see if Kaz’s cooking skills ever reach that level.

Aunty M’s mice

Why is it so?

Why are they still locking me out of the bedroom at night?  Haven’t Sooz and Kaz seen that I can stay in my own bed for hours at a time while they are busy watching MasterChef on whatever else is on in the evenings?  I can do that through the night when they are asleep too – really I can –  if only they would give me a chance.  And no, I wouldn’t go walking over the bedside tables, or the bedhead, or push the radio off the side – I know I do that sometimes during the day now, but I would be good at night, really I would.  Hmmmm, I think that empassioned plea is going to fall on deaf ears – Sooz’s as well as Kaz’s.  We expect it from Kaz – what did Sooz say to her the other day … once you have your teeth and eyes fixed maybe they can have a look at your ears!  I don’t think Kaz heard that though otherwise she may have had something to say about it … which kind of makes me think that maybe Sooz is right on the money!

Fast asleep … In my own bed … Not disturbing anyone!

The man who delivers the Thai food seems quite nice.  He was telling Sooz and Kaz the other day that their 23-year old cat ran out of lives last year and they still really miss it.  It was sad for me too because Sooz said I would probably see she and Kaz out.  Who’s going to look after me if that happens?  I hope they have a plan in place – and are carrying cards in their wallets telling people that I am home alone if (Heaven forbid) anything happened to them.  If something happens to them here I would be okay for a while … I’ve heard of Soylent Green and I can eat the unprocessed type!

Me, patiently waiting to be let (back) into the bedroom.

I’m not totally sure but I think Kaz and Sooz may have been seeing other pets!  They went out this morning and came back smelling of Mouse, Bluey and Tilly.  They can have a free pass on Mouse  – she’s Aunty M’s mother, but the other two – Syl and An’s new puppy and kitten – are a worry.  What if they’re cuter than me? Hard to believe I know but you never know what will happen … let’s not forget that Aunty M got that stupid little MiMi (grrrrrr) when she knew she could visit me any time she wanted.  Sheesh … humans!

Cuddles and kisses

Well, it’s official … I am a Brute!  You wouldn’t think that to look at me but Kaz keeps telling me I am just because I give her enthusiastic “leg cuddles and kisses”.  It’s not my fault that my claws are sharp and they sometimes go in to her skin.  It sometimes takes all my strength just to hold on when she’s trying to shake me off.  Doesn’t she know that it hurts my feelings?  I’m just trying to show her how much I love her … and Sooz.  Yes, I know I don’t give Sooz “Leg Cuddles and Kisses” but she doesn’t seem to need them as much as Kaz does!

Me … being my cute self.

Have I said how much I love the new stringy things?  They are amazing, especially since they have elasticised strings rather than just strings.  I have a favourite, of course, and I can’t believe Sooz had to tell Kaz what it is … not which one it is, but that it is a bird.  A bird, she said, since when do you get blue birds with big dots on them?  But she had a closer look at its shape, and its tail, and its beak … and finally agreed that yes, it was definitely a bird.
Even better than having the new stringy things is that Sooz and Kaz both play with me with them. The other ones are a fish (actually a ginormous shark!) and a disco ball.  It doesn’t get much better than this.

You have to turn your head to the side … but that’s me in the box I had for a minute before they took it away so I didn’t eat it!

They say that if you ever made an alarm clock that used the sound of a cat throwing up as the alarm, you would have a winner on your hands.  That’s so much better than nearly having what was your dinner on your paws … which is what you get when you have a cat actually throwing up.  I don’t like it … I do not like it at all.  I don’t know why Kaz and Sooz let me do it … especially since they don’t like it either.  I’ve never heard anyone grumble as much about cleaning anything up … and was that Kaz doing chucking sounds when she was cleaning up the little pile of Nigey-sick?  I’m sure it was.

I have rediscovered my cat tree and am taking turns sleeping in the turret up the top or in the basket.  I don’t know how it got smaller but it’s a bit of a squeeze fitting in there now.  I’m just glad it’s tucked in now so when I’m in it I’m over the platforms rather than hanging out in space!  That would be too scary even for me … the cat who was on top of the shower screen this morning.  It’s fun playing tricks on Kaz … she’s been a bit down this week – something about dentists and an operation on her eye – so while she was in the shower this morning I jumped up on the top of the screen and, once she was out, I meowed.  She looked around the bathroom but couldn’t see me.  Heh heh.  I’m not sure why but she finally looked up … and there I was.  Ta da.  She laughed and called Sooz in to have a look.  That was good (that she called Sooz) because Kaz didn’t even give a thought to how I was going to get down … Sooz did though, and cleared off the ledge at the end of the bath to make a space for me to jump down.  She’s a good cat mother!  Which reminds me … Mother’s (Mothers? Mothers’?) Day is coming up and I will have to find something special to do for them. I can feel some more Leg Cuddles and Kisses coming on!
