I’m tired and I want to go to bed …

Can you believe they have had me trapped in this house for the last year?  That’s 365 days … and nights!  Do they not realise I am a free spirit and need to roam the great outdoors.  How can I bring them treats if I can’t get outside to get them any?

I did catch a fly last night … I chased it around and around the bedroom, over the bed, over their legs, down the hall, back into the bedroom.  It was fast … but I was faster!  It’s a pity it was so small so there wasn’t that much to share with them … heh heh … that sounds like I ate it … which I didn’t (how gross would that be?) but I know it’s in the bedroom somewhere … I just haven’t been able to find it since it went quiet.  It’s very good at hiding!

It has been a busy week here.  Kaz has been busy with her camera again – and not just her camera, she’s been taking photos of me with that, and her tablet, and her phone.  There is no end to it.  And she’s not just loaning me the photos for my blog … she’s also posting them on her FaceBook page and letting everyone see me doing … stuff … being in her basket, or sleeping in my bed, or just rolling around the floor, or sleeping in on the floor … and stretching out along the door.   She’s back to that thing of not giving me a moment’s peace!

I’ve been trying to get to sleep in the bedroom the last few nights.  While Kaz and Sooz are watching MasterChef (why do they like that program so much … who wants to watch other people cook and eat?) I take myself into the bedroom and get into my bed … and wait for them.  Sometimes I just go to sleep … they take so long to come in.  Then, even if I’m not asleep I pretend I am because I know Kaz is a real softie and she’ll do anything rather than put me out.  Full marks to her though, she hasn’t once played the cookie trick to get me out … but she was making heaps of noise the night before last and of course I went out to investigate … and by the time I made it back to the bedroom, the door was closed.  Then last night she had the package tape and was “teasing” me with it – and we ended up doing tug-of-war – I won! I won!  And I was so excited about that, that I forget myself for a moment, and then she stopped tugging, I let go, and she threw the tape out into the hallway.  Of course, I went after it … and then the door closed with me on the other side. D’oh!

Mmmm … coffee

Lion King … or not 🙂

If only I could have carried Graham to the top of the cupboard above the Microwave … I would have held him up skyward (being careful not to hit his head on the ceiling) and started singing “The Circle of Life” song from “The Lion King”. I know it was what Kaz wanted … rather than me just being up there trying to catch a bug that had come in with her when she took out the rubbish and recycling. There was just the one bug … i’m not sure why because they knows I’m always after more friends … it was Sooz and Kaz who gave me my name afterall – that’s right, you remember … Nigella NO Friends!

There was sad news last week (no, Aunty M hasn’t gone and got herself another cat …. grrrr) – it was that my sister Chloe had used up all her lives and moved on to wherever it is that we go once we’ve done that. I hope I don’t find out for a long, long time. I wouldn’t want Sooz and Kaz to be as sad as Wendy (my first almost for-ever Mum) is now that Chloe is gone. Mind you, it doesn’t sound as though she was nearly appreciative enough of the gifts that Chloe was taking her … and yes, if someone doesn’t take the present first off, you can understand why Chloe would eat it … and leave just a little something (so as not to appear too greedy) … you know, like a liver, or a heart. There’s nothing here like that that I can catch … but I do what I can … leaving Pinkie and Graham around where they can find them … alas it’s just not the same without the blood!

About the house …

Speaking of blood, I managed to spag Kaz a couple of times this week. She’s such a wimp. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt as much as she makes out it does … she even cries some time. The big baby! It was her own fault with one of them. She was playing stringey thing with me and didn’t move her hand out of the way soon enough … that was one of them … and the other was when we were playing Where’s Nigey and Kaz forgot to keep an eye exactly on where I was … and just how sharp my teeth and claws are. Razor sharp I tell you … that’s what they are. Hmmm … I’d better be careful about them though … I have a feeling Kaz is, even now, thinking about having my claws cut. They would have been cut by now except Kaz doesn’t know how … and she’s such a woozie … I think she thinks I would not go under the clippers quietly! She’s absolutely right of course.

I’m addicted to coffee … well, not coffee really … but the smell of coffee. It’s wonderful and amazing and the reason why cats were placed on earth. I now have .. count them … one, two, three cup trays and they all smell of coffee. I’m sure Kaz and Sooz think I’ve been biting and tearing them up just because I love paper products (well, there is that too) but it’s really the smell. Did you know … I know because Kaz keeps telling me … I could be a sniffer dog at airports searching out drugs and other contraband … if only I would wear my harness. Not going to happen. Yes, yes, it’s because we cats have a much more acute sense of smell than our canine counterparts. (Heh heh … don’t tell Kaz but I have hidden the harness.)

Mmmm … coffee …

It wasn’t me…

Could this lockdown please, please be over soon? There is only so much one small cat (that would be Me) can do to keep the adults entertained. I’m doing what I can – have been for weeks now – and I’m running out of tricks … and patience.
I did manage to find a new hiding place in an insulated bag between the couch and the wall in the lounge area the other day – but can you believe Kaz must have heard me shimmy into it – because I hadn’t been in there for a minute before she was peering over the couch – and taking a photograph and telling Sooz. Yes, there is no privacy here.

That’s me … in the bag.

Aunty M visits every few days (thank Goodness!) and even though she doesn’t come in Kaz and Sooz are quite happy to see her. I’m sure it’s not just because she brings them presents – Chocolate Easter things(were they lambs or sheep?), croissants, coffee, Mouse’s  soup … that’s not soup made with Mouses, it’s soup made BY Mouse – which is what they call M’s Mum (she likes cheese) but I think I mentioned that last time. The days are all just running into each other.
Now, where was I?  That’s right … it’s all well and good for Sooz and Kaz to be happy to see M, but I haven’t had one of her face rubs forever! And Kaz, it really isn’t very helpful when you say I could go out and have one if I’d just put on the harness – yes, we know that of which you speak – that stupid, stinking, scratchy, smelly harness. I am thinking about it though. Hard.
Kaz is spending a lot of time in the garden these days with her camera. That suits me fine … especially since flies come back in with her. They’re fun to chase. And I know that there’s a Gecko (whatever that is) somewhere in Sooz’s bathroom that she’s worried I’ve already eaten. I haven’t … but I will if I can ever find it. I wonder what it looks like.
They’re now talking about replacing MY venetian blinds in the kitchen – just because I may have contributed to the recent breakage. I’m not exactly sure when I started to get in between the blinds and the window – but don’t for a moment think it’s easy for a smallish cat to squeeze between those slats where there’s very little (read! no) leeway. I know they were concerned I would break them but it wasn’t me who did it … it was Kaz. She did it! She did it! We all saw it!  Now I’m just going to play with the one’s in Sooz’s office. I’ll show them!

Doing what I do best … having a bit of a rest.

Still here … all of us!

They are still here … although they do go out for a little bit sometimes, Kaz more than Sooz though.  Hardly anyone ever comes either – except for the man from Amazon, and the man from OfficeWorks, and Anya, and Aunty Mejrem.

Anya is the only one who comes inside though.  She’s nice and all but I really want Aunty M to come inside and give me a face rub.  Oh My Goodness, doesn’t that sound like something from The Wizard of Oz … Aunty M, Aunty M.  But Aunty M doesn’t come in … not even to see Sooz and Kaz … she stands out in the front yard and talks to them through the window.  She leaves things on the front porch for them too … yesterday it was some of her mother’s borscht – that’s a kind of Russian soup made with beetroot, although Sooz said that this one tasted very tomatoey. I noticed that there wasn’t any left after dinner though!

It was good to see Anya today … but I wasn’t sure when Kaz offered her some of my boxes … the ones that the Amazon man and the OfficeWorks man had dropped off for me.  Kaz really should ask my permission before giving away my stuff.  But if they’re going to give it away to anyone … I’m glad it’s Anya – her son makes things out of cardboard boxes.  She couldn’t fit all of them in her car today so Kaz is keeping a couple in the garage for her for next time she comes.

It’s hard keeping Sooz and Kaz entertained these days.  I’ve started playing in, around and behind the venetian blinds – they don’t like that much – and sleeping in all manner of places.

I wish Kaz would stop taking photos of me though … she’s doing it on her tablet, on her phone, with the camera … she does not give me a moment’s peace. I have taken to hiding to get away from her … and I am getting really really good at it. Sometimes she and Sooz spend quite a lot of time looking for me … and as long as they don’t rattle the cookie jar or open the door to the outside, I’m usually able to resist their call.  Kaz has been trying to put the harness on me again.  I keep telling her I’m not interested but she says I’ll like it because once I have it on, I can go outside.  Hmmm … I may just think about that for like a nano-second.
